You've got some real balls for posting this man. Unfortunately society has become way too self-centered to the point that they feel they have cast away standards of all kinds, decency, health, morality you name it. We embrace mediocrity. Screw striving for success and achieving positive goals, everyone should be happy right where they are! (sarcasm).

By the way nobody wants to be fat. Any fat person would wish away their fatness if they could. But they're just too discouraged or frankly too lazy to change their lifestyle into a healthier one, which is how losing weight and being fit works. So in an effort to continue to serve their own selfish interests, they "embrace" their fatness and society makes it socially unacceptable to criticize unhealthy lifestyles. Because people deserve to make shitty decisions without being criticized for it. (more sarcasm).

I do agree fat is fat. Fat is just that it's a material. However it has become taboo because people usually use it as in insult and if used like that it's really not any different than calling her a bitch or whore. You wouldn't call someone an asshole so if you mean it as in insult, which you seem to do, then you shouldn't call someone fat

"I want you to be healthier and happier and I'm willing to give you my support to get there." -holier than though much?
Naturally skinny people think they have the secret to health and fitness figured out, but they don't know shit. They're genetic mutants, whose satiety mechanism can handle highly processed foods such as oil, sugar or cheese. Never get diet advice from someone who has never been fat

It's true. Once upon a time I used to be naturally skinny. But those days are long gone.

*Side note - Naturally skinny people aren't mutants. It's been proven that the major difference between naturally skinny people and naturally fat people is the amount of food their mother ate during pregnancy. The more she ate, the more likely someone is going to be naturally skinny (and vice versa).

@KidanisCortes as I said, freak of nature

Yes, I understand fat people eat more skinny people eat right, the question is why? Because for the most part we eat the same kind of food. There are currently three species that have trouble with their weight, cats, dogs and humans. All other species are fine
My aunt as two cats and one is skinny the other fat. Why? They literally eat the exact same food. Why does one eat more than the other? Same for people why do some people keep eating whereas others don't?

It's really easy actually. We're not meant to eat caloric concentrated food. We have two kinda of receptors in our stomach one for volume and one that estimates the richness of food. Just that for most of us low volume-super concentrated foods such as tbsp as oil (130 cal) don't get recognized properly. They get recognized as 100 calories or 50 calories even s your brain goes "gimme more food"
If your body can recognize a tbsp of oil as 130 cal the same way is could 1 cup of oatmeal

then you're lucky but not normal. You're a freak of nature if you like because some genetic mutation caused your recepors to work well with concentrated food

Being naturally skinny before 20 doesn't really count. Too much going on. Change in hormones and huge growth sprouts.
If you then slowly gained weight during your 20s you were never naturally skinny your body worked just well enough to not let it show imeadeatley that you're over eating. Eating something like 50 calories too much a day (5lbs a year) or less than that even

Anyways, none of this takes away from my point, which is that you shouldn't insult people

@nalaa ok, lets agree on one thing. Insulting people is bad. But telling people that they're fat, when they are indeed fat, shouldn't be an insult by default.

Secondly, you're misunderstanding my sidenote. It's not a freak of nature as you described. Studies have already shown that it's more to do with the mother's diet during pregnancy than anything else. The whole how many calories can my stomach recognize thing isn't just "luck". The mystery has been solved.

No that link doesn't confirm anything like that. Of course the mothers diet has a influences the baby's satiety receptors. Now I wouldn't say it's not possible but it's not stateted in your link. Saying it's what the mother eats is way too easy. It's a complex issue and as far you we know, yes being receptive to highly concentrated foods makes you a freak of nature. It's rare and there's no known cause for one or the other

I agree fat shouldn't be in an insult, but fact is, especially for girls, in the eyes of society or boys, fat is the worst thing they can be. It's worse bitchy, selfish or arrogant. So people mostly use it hurt them and of course you shouldn't do that.
And I feel you are doing that. You whole question is kinda based on the promise they need to get hurt often enough to make a change

I thought I was genetically skinny but it was actually because my parents brought me up with strict rules for food. I didn't understand why people were fat until I heard and saw how much they ate and their avoidance of PE lessons. Now I'm older with the freedom to eat what I want, when I want, I've gained quite a lot of weight but now I have to work out and remember the rules my mum instilled in me to remain a healthy weight. It's not just luck!
My friend gained a lot of weight and I went over her house; she had three share bags of chocolate and two share bags of crisps, most of which she ate. I literally had a couple bits of chocolate and crisps, nowhere near as much as she did. If anyone ate like that, they'd gain weight!

@Hannah591 I never denied that fat people eat more than skinny ones, the question is why? Sure rules or laws can be one reason. Lack of food another. But fact some people don't crave to eat more than they need, but most of do. You clearly said you do

And take owner there's also a difference between wanting to change a standard and using it regardless, knowing it hurts people
It's kinda like you're allowed to criticize the law but you can't break it

In Japan, "fat" people pay more in taxes as a penalty for being fat.

With Obamacare, now that "everyone" is basically paying into the healthcare system, and essentially paying for everyone else's "risks," I wonder how long until Americans start looking at other Americans with "contempt" when they see them eating unhealthy foods, hear about them sitting around on the couch and not going to the gym, etc.

When someone next to me is drinking their 3rd bottle of Pepsi after eating $35 worth of McDonald's all by himself, that person's "choices" are directly affecting the level of discretionary income I have, because they're increasing the cost that I have to pay in order to have health insurance (because I need to cover their fat @ss).

So, I definitely do wonder sometimes if "fat" is going to be the next target of hate in the United States (do to the new nature of the way people are obligated to insure healthcare risk).

This... is what is wrong with most fat people (most, not all):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgKGtMglJyk

They work around it and avoid taking care of the problem. (like cartman in the video. He's getting a mobility scooter because he's fucking fat as fucking fuck, instead of getting rid of the problem, which is the fat)
Being fat as fuck is like an injury. Don't push through it and work around it or it'll get worse in the long run. Take care of it and get rid of it.
And stop taking the picture so serious. It's an illustration. It's not because you see a lot of people getting fat from vegetables and water. They eat junk. There's a correlation between junk food and people being fat as fucking fuck.

Some people are happy the way they are though, and some "fat" people can be healthier than others. The thing is what you might consider fat isn't what someone else does. There's a difference between being honest and not sugar coating things and just being plain rude. I understand you want the person to be healthier but you can't force them. Everyone closes the path they go down and in the end it's up to that person alone. You could say as much as you want to them and all you could be doing is affecting their emotional health. Which isn't healthy either and they might go to drastic unneeded measures or hurt themselves.

Agree with the myTake, but in most cases, like, 9/10, the person is NOT mentally ready to take the truth. They have to ASK for it, and only THEN will they mentally be able to accept it a little better.

Usually, if a person is fat, I keep it to myself. But if a person out and out asks me, "What do you think of my body?" or something along those lines, I will legit ask the person, "You sure you're ready for this?," if they say yes, THEN I take the gloves off.

Speaking as someone who has lost 80 pounds in their lifetime, there's a lot of truth to this post, and if applied with the right technique and grace, it can be very effective.

Tbh it's not any of your business. If someone is fat, they get told they're fat. Constantly. If they still don't decide to lose weight, that's their problem. Leave them alone, you can't force them to be skinny.

You're right, but I think you do get satisfaction at putting others down. I call fat for what it is too though. I never understood why people say "big boned" or some crap. Fat is what it is. That said I don't mind fat girls. The girl in option 2 doesn't look that bad to me. I don't eat burgers all the time nor drink sodas all the time but I don't really eat veggies either. I'm lean though. I guess I'm lucky. I do work out too though. Regardless people are overly sensitive in America. Especially when it comes to gays, feminism, and being fat.

Don't try to help fat people, dude. No amount of outside help will change them. Most fat people will die fat, but the few that won't have to initiate change by there own accord; you can't help them.

So, don't waste your time. It took me 100 lbs of weight gain before I realized what I did to myself. Now, I'm succeeding in turning this shop around.

I agree. My grandmother had a stroke because she was obese. It's been several years now and she's barely lost any weight. They had to 10 of thousands of dollars to make the house wheel chair accessible, my mom drives 4 hours every other weekend to help her, her neighbor helps cook means and helps her shower.

How many peoples lives does a single person need to disrupt before they stop stuffing their face with food all the time?

A big reason people are fat is because it takes seconds to buy a burger for 99p than to cook a proper meal for a few more quid. It costs about £1 for a bottle of coke and £2 for a bottle of water.. This obviously doesn't apply everywhere, but its a problem which needs addressing. I guess people are sensitive because it's a criticism towards them and no one really wants to be criticised. It's annoying when people are 'too fat to go to jail', on benefits because they're too fat or even having to use up disabled facilities because they're too fat to walk..
How does someone let themselves get to that point..
I've always been slim just because I find it more appealing and I'm healthy. I do exercise, I might pig out but I don't eat obscene amounts.
In my opinion, people should just try be more healthy, you don't need to be full on abs, running marathons or eating salads everyday.. I just mean for your system to be generally healthy!

If I can't see that she's doing damage to her health, I have no reason to say anything at all. If I see somebody eat a consistently unhealthy diet, then regardless of their size, I'd say something about it. You're trying too hard to paint me as an asshole. People don't care when they call men skinny, and when they make fun of that, it's "acceptable", so why do I have to be careful around fat people while they aren't around me?

If you're fat, you're fat, it is what it is.

Yes it does, the food you eat (and especially how much) has everything to do with your weight. You can eat like you do because you have a fast metabolism. I can lose weight by eating junk food and gain weight by eating vegetables, it's what you eat and the amount.
The picture is for illustration and not to be perceived as a fact, that if you eat like this you'll look like this and if you eat like that you'll look like that.

And there are people who are naturally bigger and they do eat healthy. Why don't we all just accept that someone else's body is none of our damn business and keep our opinions to ourselves?

I would suggest that you say this to passers-by that are offended by your comments, but lose the tone of disdain for their false ignorance of a self-esteem issue, it will only serve to unnecessarily associate more bad feelings with the idea of being overweight.

I would assume that those closer to you would understand your viewpoint by now. And then the question of "what amount of fat do you think requires improvement" is relevant. Personally, I'd hate to ruin someone's self esteem just because they are at a weight you find unacceptable.

Either way, you shouldn't have to whisper with care about a health-positive issue you strongly advocate. In fact, it should probably be yelled, albeit compassionately.

I feel the same way, especially during the summer months. I'm a hiker and I eat quite a bit (healthy) but because I hike so much, I don't keep weight on. I get people constantly calling me anorexic and too skinny. I'm actually not even too skinny, but that's not the point. I don't see why bigger people think it's okay to call out a thin person, but if a thin person points it out, it's wrong. A bigger person usually says it's not their fault they're fat, or they'll make excuses. I see my doctor regularly. He knows I'm hiker and he would tell me if I'm too thin. I'm healthy.

crapy genetics and crappy hormones in the crappy food.

Yet ironically it is all down to what they put in the mouth, and THAT puts them to blame XD
So ultimately in 90+% of the cases it's all on the person.

first of all, did she eat balanced healthy, or fancy diet healthy?
Because that kind of matters (you for example need quite a bit of fat in your diet, or else the body will store most of the carbs as fat). And how do we know her inability to stay at a healthy weight range is because of the genetics, and not hormones and stuff that is all too comon in food nowadays?

The truth is we have an EXPLODING obesity epidemic. After ww2 the overweight ratio was just arround 15% in usa, now it has passed 50%, and is still rising rapidly. You can't blame that on genetics...

@dartmaul15 It's been a while since I've watched it. But I remember her eating a few prices of watermelon and getting introuble bc she are to much of it.

And I agree with what your saying. If I could like it I would.

sounds like she's not getting nough of the right nutritions. The body can turn carbs and calories into fat, but it ironically needs fat acids to do so. So you need fat in your diet. Just one example of why you can't simply cut out necesary stuff from the diet XD

very few know that, because everyone hav made fat and carbs the evil bad guys. Yet the truth is that people eating no fat diets and still gaining weight is likely gaining weight because they don't get enough fat acids.
Hence the therm "to little and too much is not good for you".
A healthy diet is balanced. Those fancy diets are rarely balanced XD

You're fucking right! I'm a bitch when it comes to talk about weight, sorry but I think that if you work hard, you can get whatever you want. There is plenty of fat people who become fit after years of hard work, BECAUSE OF COURSE IT TAKES TIME, you just need to want to change.

But what will you tell people who are like not thin but also not superfat. What some cultures perceive as fat is in other cultures a normal body. For example in Eastern-Europe the average person is way thinner than in America. So what do you say to people in that case?

I'm not going to be telling people they're fat because of how they look. For me, it's really is about health. So if they're overweight to the point that endangers their health, I'd use the fat word. Similarly, for all those girls in Hong Kong who are skinny fat, I'd use the fat word too.

When they're skinny, but have absolutely no muscles at all and what they do have is all fat. You poke them lightly with a finger and you'll feel the jelly squish aside and hit bone.

      I am.

I'm borderline fat, but yes. I must admit that I am.

I don't really understand what the point of this take is. Someone else's weight & health are none of your business. Okay, they're fat... I'm sure they know that already, even if they're in denial. But if they're in denial, I don't understand why you think it's your duty to save them from their weight.

You may not be fat, but you definitely have flaws (& things you need to work on) just like everyone else. Please remember that.
