Looks matter a lot in getting people to like or dislike you. Sometimes even true with your own parents and family. But so what? It's just another sign among all the other countless signs that there is very little love among people. When love is conditional it is no longer love, it's just an exchange, I give you what you want, you give me what I want. True love is unconditional, never changing, never ending. And no, people are never a source of true love because people simply don't have it. It's unrealistic and unfair to expect someone to give you something they don't have. If you want love, go to the source, ask it from the one who actually has it to give.
Looks don't matter that much. I've dated mostly very attractive men, sure, but the guy i've fallen the most in love with in the end and been the most attracted to on a level where i'm attracted to him in a way that can't be put into words... Well he's average at best. He's certainly not someone i'd care about if I saw him outside and didn't know him, but we have a connection and there's something about his voice and smell and the way he carries himself aside from the gentlemanly and kind personality that makes me very attracted to him. But if you only go by looks, yes, looks matter plenty. But then you'll most likely only have very shallow relationships too often because they're not based on much.
Of course looks matter that's what we are drawn to first. Guys are more upfront about it but its usually girls who pretend looks don't matter. No other mammals go for "personality" first. Its not like pretending looks don't matter make a difference anyway, we are naturally drawn to somebody attractive, and usually match up with someone attractiveness close to ours.
Online dating should've put an end to this myth by now.
For men, they can overcome being ugly by earning a lot of money, having fame or having a high status.

I think it definitely applies, obviously, to an extent. Someone who is extremely ugly may not have much of a chance of being more attractive... But if you consider a person who is a 4/10 and has high maintenance, good posture and confidence, and a good personality compared to a person who is a 7/10 but does not have any of those things, the 4/10 would definitely outshine the 7/10.
*I'm* the person who's a 4/10 in looks (2 and a half, technically), short (181 cm), has a small penis, and in has literally no physical positives or good traits, whatsoever. I dress okayish, have good posture (I'm always aware of my posture, given the height thing), and *I* think I have an endearing personality, even if I know some people won't like my sarcasm, sense of humor, or sass. With women, the 6'3", eight or nine out of ten in looks, bland lock of wood with ego guy will win over the guy who's a 4 or 5 in all physical categories (me), 99.9% of the time, with a.1% margin of error.

Let's say looks come first, but preety girl doesn't satisfy the man, so the man hangs out with another girl during a party, things got steamy and this girl was heavenly while having sex, they both do it so many times that this guy got hook. What will be the possible outcome?
That means that the man is just using the girls for sex, completely ignoring all personality factors, and is completely not worth to have a relationship in the first place. It depends on the interests of the person, I guess.

The truth is that, if the guy is attractive, women don't care about any negative traits and if the guy is unattractive, then positives traits rarely matter.

Looks definitely matter to at least some girls. They matter to me. You won't find me banging no ugly dude for money.
Looks might matter, but it's never stopped me from getting the girls I really want. When I do strike out with a woman, its pretty much always been because of one of two reasons - either we got to know each other but didn't click, or I didn't get to really interact with her in the first place. But I've never been in a situation where I actually got turned down by a girl because she didn't think I was attractive enough, and usually these girls will go out with me even though they can get guys far more attractive.
This is all still so confusing. I’ve had girls pass me up when I was younger for shorter and unathletic guys because their game was tighter than mine. I got my fair share but still I was good at keeping a poker face if the girl wasn’t very attractive.
Oddly now I’m seeing more and more women act openly shallow.
That study is absolutely useless. You cannot use it gauge the significance of personalities role in attraction, because personality can't be reduced to three traits. Also, personality cannot be assessed by reading a brief about it on a piece of paper or technology. I agree with the overall sentiment of the post though.
What utter rubbish we live in a shallow materialist world where money and looks matter more than anything else. When was the last time you saw an ugly person get a big acting role unless they are the evil they are always good looking men and women that get the roles.
I think that it all just depends on the circumstances, but looks definitely bring more advantage than not being attractive. I did not intend to diminish other truths in my article. I definitely agree with you, though. My point is, though, that someone who is attractive with money would be even more prosperous than one who is not attractive. Get what I mean? :)

For me, her looks only need to pass a relatively minimal threshold and she can't cannot be obese. She does need to have a nice personality and be at least somewhat intelligent. That is non-negotiable.

If looks truly matter to women then why do many of them date below average looking guys? Why do more men watch porn than women? Why is it well known that women are less visual than men are when it comes to attraction? Why do women rarely flirt first?

I don't care how ugly a girl with a great personality is. My best ex girlfriend was an "ugly" girl who was going to the gym almost every day. She has an amazing body which always turned me on so much. She has no trouble with dating. Now she is in another serious relationship.

Looks are incredibly important for the dating world, and it's one big thing incels/blackpill types are right about. My face is good-looking, but my one weakness was my height; that's why I took the initiative and solved the issue through surgery, growing six inches. And NO, I won't be telling women that I did it.
Don't have time to read all of this now, but my opinion is : Looks matter, but not that much. Everyone is attractive (most of people who take care of their weight and looks). Thing that matter is personality. If someone has great personality then it's most likely that i will start liking that person even more and catch feelings. If girl is hot but has trash personality it's most likely that i will fuck her then dump her.
