To me marriage is meaningless. Just a title that holds no weight. Not wanting to get married is not a bad thing, getting married offers no benefit.

What can you do when you are married that you cannot do when you are "just" living together? Do not mention "willingness to commit". That is not a reason.

An actual marriage carries with it a whole host of risks that effect almost exclusively men, such as being jailed for being poor.

Yep pretty much this. The other thing to consider is with the rise of women who want marriage and the decrease in the number of men who do women are going to have to lower their standards. I've seen a lot of this already. The losers and flawed guys women are willing to accept to get a ring never cease to amaze me.

I work with a lot of guys in the drilling industry who make 100k+ a year and feel like they work at mc Donald's after they pay child support and alamony. I'm 27 but I'm not stable enough right now to want a family have people relying on me. But as much as I fight it I know some day I'll find some one I can't bare to be without. I hope i don't end up like them.

    Exactly!

This is why I'm staying unmarried (single if it must be). My decision has not been changed since so long, that I lost count already. I witnessed a few married couples, I witnessed what happened after and I witnessed my own childhood. I didn't like any of it. It's just not my thing.

Never lose hope folks. There are always enough men, who are after marriage. Population is still gaining. I doubt it will be stopped anytime until forced so.

One of the things that put men off marriage is that it's us that bring more to the table in a marriage its never equal.

I think not all men want to get married, when i was in my teenage years through high school, i wanted to get married Sadly through college it didn't happened. I am 30 now and don't really regret not getting married. I enjoy being single and doing whatever I want with the burden of a wife or children that I have support until the day i die.

When I was a young cat I wanted to get married and came close once. Now that I'm older and much wiser and for many very important reasons I can't tell you how thankful I am that I didn't make the catastrophic mistake of getting married.

@Someguy17 I was there for my mom and dad all the way up until they passed from this life. I can tell you that I personally witnessed that both of them saw our relatives that have passed away waiting on them there to meet them before they passed on. Only those that don't believe in God die alone. Remember that.

I would not tell a lie about my own parents like that. So if what I said here scares you in any way, then you may want to reconsider your position and start making my God your God too.

Probably on the same boat as you. In India, marriage is just an evil nightmare for men due to laws like 498 A. I'm also planning to have a girlfriend but not to marry a girl. The relationship is only between the two consenting partners. Society has no right to interfere in that.

I used to want to get married after finding a beautiful girlfriend (during my 30s) but thats just fantasy for me and I grew out of it. Marriage costs way too much money and then kids cost even more (fuck that). I'd rather be myself and live life working hanging with my friends and making new friends everywhere I go spending time w/ my family, playing videogames, going to the gym, smokin in Colorado, partyin, goin to concerts, enjoying life. I prefer the party life than to be in a relationship

Marriage is no longer palatable due to how the breakdown of marriages are handled. When you get married you're banking on a person being there for the rest of your life. You make decisions and sacrifices for that cause.

If, as a man, I decide I want out without any fault on her part I SHOULD pay through my ass for breaking contract.

But when SHE breaks contract - there is nothing but a payday for her.
    HE CHEATS: Payday for Her
    SHE CHEATS: Payday for Her

    This inequality decimates men.

As people becomes less and less religious, then marriage loses it's moral points.

So I thing the decline in marriage simply shows the decline in religion!! It's a bit oversimplified I'll grant, but pretty true not the less.

Religious people still do get married based on their religions beliefs, if you are not religions then not being married is an attractive option.

Right, they do still get married for religious reasons, wherein does this moral you speak of lay?

Not being married can be an attractive option either way less responsibility, less money strain, more space, freedom,
Me? I'm not religious, I still want to be married some day. There's legal benefits that make it an attractive option for the one I want to spend my life with, plus it's almost like a promise in my eyes, that "I have chosen you, and will stay with you for the rest of my life"

A non religious person have the practical enticements and the romance of the wedding, religious persons have a religious based moral for getting married, I'll think this influences marriage's quite a bit, especially here in Europe for religious sentiments are very low.

By religious morals, I am referring mainly to the judeo-christian and Islamic beliefs in marriage as the only moral option for sex and family units.

I don't think all men lose in court but undoubtedly if he makes more money, he more than likely will.

I also haven't seen the "Father figure loss of respect" at all. If you're talking about entertainment, I think it's asinine to compare what is mostly made by men to depict what common people view a father as.

And there are many marriages which don't cost men the rest.

God, am I surrounded by stupid people on here? lol

You're Take comes off as giving reasons why some men don't want to marry that you agree with/understand. Otherwise, why the hell would you make a Take for reasons that a LOT of people know that some men don't want to marry? Just to make a useless Take?

For any person who is inane enough to believe that every single man will lose in court which is what you SEEM to be doing by writing this Take is someone who does not have enough rational sense in my opinion to make such a life-changing decision.

If that's not what you believe and you simply wrote this Take to regurgitate what a lot of people already know--some reasons why some men DON'T want to marry--it was a waste of my time reading it due to the fact that I already know this.
