One reason I don’t usually chase guys is because I notice once the high status guy becomes interested in me I lose 90-99% of my interest in him

A guy online taught me something. He said a marriage based purely on physical attraction is doomed to failure.

Another friend of mine said a marriage based on money will not last.

You cannot base a relationship or marriage on status and expect it to work out

You will end up either abused or divorced or impoverished if you do

True marriage is based on inclusion and partnership and spiritual bonds of friendship and altruistic love

It is not based on binaries of superior or inferior power dynamics in sexual or monetary competitiveness

Because what you desire and crave at the start of the relationship is not what you desire and crave in the middle of the relationship

Whos serving money? Many very rich people have deep and life long marriages. We can't just quote some words completly out of context and give a answer, no one asked about serving money, and nothing bibical says money is bad or evil, right? It says the love of money. The Bible is just 1 of this worlds holy books. Other faiths have theirs also. Nothing Bibical says for you to despise money, and many rich people do not worship money. So, because you were born into a Christian, Buddist or Muslum family, and have never known anything about another faith makes you believe only Jesus is truth? Im not critizing you, just giving my opinion. The path to truth has many roads. Jesus is fine, not saying he's bad. But you completly avoided the question, nothing was said about serving money.

Such a Western way of thinking! Arranged marriages used exactly these qualities when looking for unknown partners for children for thousands of years successfully. They still work to this very day with marriages lasting a lifetime based on look and money potential of a person they've never met.

I chose my husband based on earning ability so we would not raise impoverished children. He got bonus points, because the picky women around me also found him to be very handsome and would not stop mentioning how handsome they thought he was. He picked me based on my smoking hot looks. We have almost nothing in common other than a similar view of future goals, but 14 years and 2 children later we are still very happy we married each other with no intentions of ever divorcing!

He still loves looking at me, and I still love watching him be successful and spending his money. Ha ha ha. I am very happy I went the way I went instead of holding out for a chemical reaction that was no guarantee of future success. There's another saying, "Love can come later."

It's better to make good choices now and allow love to grow in a secure and well planned environment than to run off with the first person you have feelings for who will very likely put you in the poor house or end in divorce. Hence the immense divorce rates of the Western world... Security is a very big deal in long term relationship success.

I tell my children, date 5 years until the love hormones wear off and see if you still admire and tolerate that person as they are without the rose colored glasses on...

I'm not really for marriage in my personal life.. But an emotional connection is way better than a physical one.

I lost interested in a guy pretty fast in a physical way if there is no emotional connection.

Many rich people are happy and have great marriages. Money and marriage are completly different matters, they surely interact but dont clear a path in only one direction. To pattern your life from unproven thoughts isn't wise. I know several very wealthy couples, know them very well, have all my life. Those I know haven't allowed materialism to guide their love or life.

Turning the love their heart had when they first got married into greed to get possessions that give them a good image others can react with being jealously and idealizing whattheyll never have to build up the self esteem this marriage couple feels good and wanted by others replacing the love that once did this as the years go on with being married until they go through with a divorce because they want out from no love left to motivate them on wanting to fix the problems their marriage has.

Maybe the issue is with you. Because if he concealed his financial status from you and you remained interested and intrigued, what does that say about a guy's wealth, you as a person and people's individual marriages.

Infidelity
Money
Lack of communication
Constant arguing
Weight gain
Unrealistic expectations
Lack of intimacy
Lack of equality
Not being prepared for marriage
Abuse

Being rich would help you on one of the items on the list, but as the author mentioned not the others.

People were in functional long lasting relationships long before religion was a thing... Actually back when it started the men owned their wives as told by God so... Absolutely agree with there being equal love, as much as possible, but many societies and cultures have successful marriages in all sorts of religions and beliefs. So maybe one way to think of it is to have common beliefs :)
