Possibly. I used to hate the fact that the state was involved in marriage. That was my view when I was younger. But now I actually like the legal contract aspect, because I trust women less.
I actually think so. Perhaps adding the government in marriage adds an extra layer of complexity, headache, and dullness to something that should be simple, pure, and genuine between two people that love each other.
I think the reverse would happen. There are benefits the government gives to married couples, a break on income taxes for example. If government wasn't involved, there'd be less incentive to get married.
No, I wish we could make divorce and infidelity illegal then marriage would become the lifelong romantic union that it once was as opposed to the coin flip it is today

I think if there was some kind of guarantee that each partner gets to leave with what they put into it, and there would never be any alimony/spousal support, I think men would be more willing to get married not less. Can't speak for the women though.
Yes. The government ruins everything it touches. That's why you don't want them involved in more things than they have to be. Marriage is dog shit because of the government.

The real issue is the financial and emotional burden of divorce

Maybe less depends on generation to generation a speck of sand could change the outcome of history…
These days I think people are more likely to stay together without the paperwork. Less pressure and more trust.
If the government wasn't involved then it would be for religious reasons. I don't ever plan on getting married. It's not necessary.
The federal or local government should not be in the marriage business.
More men would married if we had better protection against predatory wives. The burden of proof for "abuse" should be higher.
Possibly but also it's best that it is involved so that people are wiser with their choices

I think that if you could receive the benefits of marriage without the ceremony, more people would take that option.

When government gets involved in anything. They mess shit up and it cost you money
my friend hates the government and the stupid moron still got married. so no, i don't think people care
The better question is would most people get married if there was no incentive/benefit towards women. Chances are no.
Most men are forced/pressured by their women into marriage via threats of losing her if they dont.
Nah it still sucks most times because it usually ends at some point and you have to decide who gets what
As long as family law court judges were also not involved (they are all white knights) then maybe so.
Actually no, they wouldn't. It has nothing to do with the government, it's all about money
