Why would a bride tell bridesmaids to stay away from the groom's brother?

Question

I think at the time I was 25. Tall, athletic, maybe a little skinny looking in the undersized tuxedo, but overall I am a decent looking guy. There is no way I am below a 6(on the 1-10 scale) if you asked anyone about my looks.

I went to my brother's wedding and I had been single for 5 years.

One of the bridesmaids tried to talk to me while in line asking in a sort of pity way "if I was having fun" but another bridesmaid *quietly* yelled at her to stop talking. I still responded with yes I am having fun.

A lot of bridesmaids by the way like 15 in total. 7 of my brother's friends were there. They all seemed to flirt with each other back and forth.

Granted I didn't try to flirt with any of them cause I wanted my brother's wedding to go smoothly. It did go well, but was a little embarrassing as the bridesmaids were all so obviously avoiding just me.

They legit flocked away when I tried to enter the dance floor lol

There is no way I smelled bad by the way lol they never even got that close. I was clean so definitely no B. O problems.

Just wondering about this, see what you girls and guys think.

I remember asking the most attractive bridesmaid if she would like “to go” to the after party while holding her hand. She smiled and blushed saying “I have a boyfriend but its very tempting……”. I immediately said “oh I didn’t know about the boyfriend. I respect that. Have a good evening”.

But she continued looking me in the eyes and smiling. She wanted me to seduce her. But I thought it was bad karma to make taken women cheat. I took the higher road that evening.

However years later now the naughty part of me still has some cognitive dissonance over that.

She definitely wanted to f*ck me and she was the hottest girl there. I saw her turn down several other guys down but she engaged with me when we chatted. Also given I got cheated on by next girlfriend (despite not cheating myself) I believe in karma less and less as I get older. Anyway who knows.

15 bridesmaids and not one of them would have anything to do with you? My guess would be you are not as attractive as you think you are, also supported by the "single for 5 years" statement. If you are attractive to women, it is difficult to stay single for even a couple months, unless you are not attracted to women or very disciplined, because they will be approaching you and actively trying to work their way into your life if you are attractive.

Especially at a wedding, where bridesmaids (and just about everyone single) are known to be on the prowl.

There could have been any other number of factors, but if your brother is still married, you could just ask your sister-in-law what happened that day. Or your brother, they would both have much better information than some random strangers on the internet.

You mean to say that you waited 3 full years to try to find an answer to this problem of yours?

By now, you should have forgotten the story and I am surprised it still bothers you that much.

Could it be that you have a reputation? People don't just avoid others without a reason. Have you perhaps been considered a player in the past? Being single does not mean not having been benefiting from the favors of women.

Having a reputation is about the only reason why anyone would avoid you, unless you have a criminal record or are known to be an addict of some kind. It could also be that because of your looks, people assumed that you were trying to pick up a girl or two and word got around that the girls should be aware of that fact.

Whatever the reason was, it is time to let go.

Most likely explanation is that the grooms brother has a girlfriend or love interest and told the bride to keep girls away from him, the grooms brother is gay or has a bad history that makes him uncomfortable with woman, is very shy, is divorced and his kids do not want new women in his life, or the bride has a sister or cousin or friend who likes the grooms brother.

It used to be a guy's rite of passage to have sex with a bridesmaid at a wedding. In this case, it sounds like the bride knows that and is trying to keep her wedding clean.

Out of curiosity... was she successful? Did you eventually hook up with a bridesmaid, at least for a dance?

Brides are usually very self absorbed on this specific day. I don't think that she had anything to do with it.

You mention an ''undersized tuxedo''... how MUCH too small was it?

And how hard did you try to get a convo going?
