My husbands dog bit my face while "playing" and I'm two seconds from divorce?

My husband's dog has ALWAYS nipped faces whenever she is playing or overly energetic. She is 2 years old, I have been with him for 6 years. I have begged him to stop allowing it but he thinks it's fucking adorable because usually it's not hard bites and just small nips and she's a small dog but I'm done. I have literally gotten in to screaming matches with him over this because whenever I bring it up, he freaks out saying stupid shit like "I am convinced that you would celebrate this dog being killed by a car right in front of you". Making out like I want the dog to die simply because I don't like her and loathe her behaviors. I don't like the dog at all but no, I don't want her dead. I want her out of my house and with someone who actually wants her. I never wanted the dog.

So basically, she has nipped/bit me several times. I've redirected, reprimanded, scolded, used spray bottles, tried training her myself and absolutely nothing has gotten her out of the nipping faces. He outright refuses to get a professional trainer, saying we can't afford it. So day in and day out I'm responsible for this dog (I work from home) and have to constantly dodge being bit in the face. Today was the absolute last straw for me. She bit me so fucking hard on the nose and yanked her head backwards while her tooth was up inside my nostril and I hauled off and smacked her right on the nose. She bolts away from me yelping and acting like I'm trying to murder her. I've never done this before but she wasn't fucking letting go. My husband immediately tweaks out saying I'm an abusive bitch and there were 'other ways I could have handled that' and has since babied the dog who just about tore my nose off.

I'm currently packing a bag and told him that either the dog is gone by tonight or I'm divorcing him. He is apologizing profusely and now talking about training, saying he loves the dog too much to see her go and I told him I didn't give a fuck. I'm at a loss.

So if you don’t like dogs, why did you stick around with someone who wanted a dog and got one even though he knows you didn’t want one? He didn’t respect your wishes, but yet you stayed. Your husband is fucking stupid, by the way. He needed to grow a pair two years ago and train the dog properly and he failed. He encourages bad behaviour. Both of you do, actually, since technically you’re also responsible for the dog. Both of you failed to train the dog as a puppy and now you’re reaping the consequences.

What would happen if there was a baby in the house and the dog starts biting the baby? By the way, don’t have any kids with this guy because if he can’t even discipline a dog, he sure as hell won’t be able to discipline a child. What if the dog is in public and bites someone else, or worse, bites their child? Both of you would be sued for everything you own if it bites somebody’s kid. Tell your husband he’s a total asswipe who makes the rest of us dog owners look bad, and then leave if you don’t want to also accept responsibility for the dog.

The truth? Are you being serious right now or you truly just mentally fucking inept? A dog has physically bitten my face on several occasions and drawn blood and you are over here screaming abuse because I finally had enough and defended myself against a violent animal that should have been put down a long ass time ago. It does NOT matter what my husband allows because I DONT, yet the animal keeps biting and drawing blood on faces. The only truth I'm seeing here is that people like YOU would rather fuck an animal and put it on a pedestal than admit that there are simply cases where the dog is a bad dog.

I disagree... dogs should NEVER be slapped, kicked, hit, etc. You can train a dog without abuse. It's easy. It's dogs that are trained to respond in an aggressive manner is the FAULT of the human not the dog!!!

From what you said, that sucks he loves his dog more than you. A dog should never nip at a face. If someone turned it in to animal control with evidence, they would take the dog as being dangerous.

just... work with a trainer on this. this can easily be fixed. no need to divorce and pack your bags over a dog geesh.

He refuses to get a trainer so I'm stuck here trying to train this dog myself. I'm with the dog 12 hours a day alone so I have done everything I can. Like the spray bottle worked for awhile until my husband made a game out of it. So now whenever I take the spray bottle out, the dog thinks it's time to play.
