In today's society when having flings & meaningless hookup relationships can be relatively easy - and online dating apps with a "meat-market" aspect - people put values on the wrong things & wonder why they often end in a bad relationship or divorced.

Take a friend's Match profile.
She is an intelligent woman that has a golden personality, is well-loved, etc. in real life & many people call her attractive in real life because she isn't visually unappealing and more because of her nurturing, etc. nature.

Trying to attract the attention of men on Match who write on their profiles that they want a respectable woman, etc. is like pulling teeth without anesthesia. Whereas her cousin's fake profile (using poised model photos) is overwhelming attracting men & her profile is incomplete.

From my experience good looking people are often too critical of themselves and would rate themselves much lower than that of which they are. As far as looks alone, I think it’s important to find someone you are attracted to. It doesn’t have to be this unhealthy OMG attraction, but if when you first meet them you are not attracted then as time passes it’s most likely going to get worse. Now saying that, you should never go for someone based off of attraction; that would just be a recipe for disaster.

You don't have to be gorgeous, you just have to be willing/wanting to have sex, to be honest. Most guys/girls base their relationships on sex, not looks. Well attraction is a funny thing. Sometimes I can have an ideal image in my head, this colour hair, that colour eyes, this height, that weight, and then be surprised sometimes happily if I feel attraction towards someone totally different. E. g. opting for the average looker, over the model.
