Need advise on what to do?

My sister is pregnant and I'm very happy for her but she will be 9 month pregnant or just given birth around the time of my wedding and I'm scared she will either flake on being a bridesmaid and or doing the make up which I'm paying her to do... this sounds selfish but I've been enaged for a year and won't be married til August of 2024 and during this year of being engaged I didn't mention my wedding to much because she had just got married and so did my fiance sisters so I took the back burner well I thought it would be my turn to have a little attention for my event and some help but I just feel ignored again and I don't know what to do about any of this... so what do I do or say to my sister and how do I do it without looking like a bad guy?

Ah man, that's a tough situation. I can see both sides for sure. Maybe try talking to your sister calmly and see if you can come up with a compromise? Like:

- Tell her how happy you are but also how much you were counting on her help.

- Say you just want her there if she's up for it, but totally understand if she's too wiped out.

- Ask what parts she might be able to do - coming as a guest if not a bridesmaid? Doing hair/make-up earlier in the day?

- See if another friend can fill in as bridesmaid if need be.

- Reassure her this isn't about taking attention from the baby, you just want her involved if possible.

Definitely don't make demands or get mad - that won't help. Come at it from a place of caring about her too. If she's willing to try, great. If not, don't hold it against her - newborns are so much work!

Maybe your mom could help fill in gaps too if your sis can't do everything. Just communicate so you're both heard and can find the best solution. Hope it works out!

you cannot have the bridesmaid be pregnant and also doing everyones makeup. i bet she will flake because of those 2 things you mentioned. i suggest you find someone else to do the makeup.

It’s still pretty far from now, I’m sure if you talk to the people that arranged it they can make changes, things happen, life happens, it’s not like it’s next month, it’s 7 months away from now and babies don’t always come out on time either. Besides I think summer weddings costs more
