no because if you can afford luxury then engagement has a gem! closer to 9,000$ so 2000 seems stingy. if you can't afford luxury like 90% people and middle class then you should not be buying a 1500 gold band either. ask your parents if they are willing to pay many parents are willing in the west.

Acceptable is what you can afford. I believe most women that love you aren't expecting you to bankrupt yourself in today's economy over a ring. It's a representation of your love not proving your love with an experience inanimate object.
