storytime! my mom's friend at the workplace, hospital that is, has the eldest daughter who married a guy a decade younger. when they got married, he was 18/19 and she was 28 and now they have kids and he's 27. everyone's calling that relationship "predatory", even her own family and community, especially her mother in law.

I quickly grabbed some popcorn bc its plain ridiculous. In india, a 16yo female can become the second wife to a widower that's her father's age, that's not predatory. An 18yo can marry a guy in fifties. Most women in twenties marry guys in their thirties. And that age gap is fine, it's awesome. But this woman is problematic for having a younger man as partner? You're okay with a teenage stepmother but not this?

Hah! Totally! My last relationship with this divorced 35 year old woman ended, one of the main reasons was the probable societal backlash we would face.

She thought it would be too much at my end considering the mindset of my parents and the Indian society.

I was never attached to woman like her. We got along so well that I forgot the kind of connection I had with my exes who were in my age group. Very uniquely so, she was one hell of a beauty as well.

It did cross her mind on a few occasions regarding what if I get attracted to younger girls but how could I tell her that none other crossed my mind when I was with her.

We ended on amicable terms however.

Most people generally don’t care only if the age difference is like Emmanuel Macron and his wife then yeah it might get some eyes on you and the parents of the younger husband would worry they won’t have grandchildren but only if the age gap is huge.

If its the other way around, no one cares either.

The truth is people in the west hate way more if it's an older man, your situation is in the minority. It's not what you think.

I think here men do it on their second wives because they find fertility youthand beauty as atractive.


Women who are older don't have that and they and many either can reproduce or dont want to and younger guys eventually want kids.
