7. Money

Most people want something more meaningful and this isn't a "I love you, take this gift" this is more like "I really don't know you so go buy what you want".

6. Gym membership

Eh? What? What do you mean huh? Do I look fat to you? What are you suggesting? You're not that fit either you shallow asshole! Lol

5. Books

Okay, some people love to read, I like to, but receiving books is not always good, the chances they'll give you the book you want are not too high so you'll probably end up with something like "why am I single?". Gift from your sweet aunt that worries way too much about your love life.

4. Letters

Yeah yeah, meaningful and beautiful, but that's it? Let's be honest, most people expect more than that if they're giving a good gift.

3. Clothes

Ouch. Get a bigger size. Oops. Get a smaller size. Ouch. Buying clothes is way too difficult for myself.. I wouldn't even know what to give to someone else.

2. Shoes

Same with clothes. Getting the right size is almost impossible unless you know the person very well. Also... You might not like that pair of shoes. Buying shoes is sooo risky.

1. Socks

This is like the worst. Why? Why giving socks? I'll never it but oh well.. That's life.

This is why I hate buying gifts because I just don't know what the fuck people want. It's always why I get them money, I mean sure yeah it's boring but at least they can use it to spend to get themselves what they want instead of having me guess and do it. Whatever hate it or love it, money is the most useful choice for a gift.

I actually love to get everything on this list besides a gym membership.

As long as they ask the right size beforehand there's no problem with socks/shoes/clothes. And normally people will stay pretty safe when buying clothes and not buy anything extravagant or crazy, and in the neutral colors, so most of the time I like it. And if not, I return it. Or they give gift cards to stores so you can pick out your own clothes. And I love to get fuzzy socks! Anything that I use and saves me money (so I don't have to buy them myself) is a win-win for me.

And the people that are close enough to give me gifts will either know what kind of books I like (general genre, I like everything in it pretty much) or will feel comfortable asking.
And the people that are not close enough to do that will just give money, which I can use to get myself something I actually want. Money is almost always my #1 favorite :P

And I'd love letters. To make it a gift, it better be a box of letters, though ;)
I would love having a book of letters... it would be so sweet and heartfelt and probably the best gift of all time.

Money - love receiving.
Gym - never received and likely would never use.
Books - best gift ever.
Letters - prefer over meaningless gift. And I can keep letters.
Clothes - I bought maybe two percent of my wardrobe. The rest came from birthdays, Christmas or just hand me downs. I love not having to waste money on clothes.
Shoes - hate having to pay big bucks for shoes. Good gift.
Socks - I'm always running out. Gimme the sport ankle socks and I'm very happy.

7. As a student i'd LOVE to get mony, because it is always a shortage. And i can spend it on something usefull/important, rather than get some random shit i won't need/use.

5. Make a bloody wishlist! Give them a list of maybe 20-50titles/series (mention if you have books in the series) you want. Anyone with a common sense about litterature will get the hint here. And the list is so long you'll still be unable to predict what exact one you get, while on the same time you know you'll get something good.

3. hoodies go in size large. Prefer more dark and neutral colors, and nothing tacky. Jeans go in 31 waist and 32 legs, i want them kinda loose fitting but not something looking straight out of the ghetto (please be able to handle a joke, okay?), and i like them dark-ish, and not too plain but not over the top either.

Know the person, and those won't be a problem. And just describe what kinds you want.

That's the worst idea ever. Worst idea pony. It's just, like, ALL THE BAD THINGS.

1, you don't know which chain is convenient. Hours, location, etc.

2, you're theoretically implying an insult (hey fatty, get in the gym).

3, it starts immediately and runs out. Has that weird pushy urgency. Can't be used at leisure.

4, most people are shitty negotiators, and a contract is a contract. A gifted membership would almost certainly be at a much higher, much worse rate than I could negotiate by myself. (I pay $29/yr at 24 hour fitness, y'all. Yes, that's /yr, not /mo. Didn't get there in one step, but got there.)

Don't think I could think of a worse present if I tried.

Honestly, kids, just buy people something they can return, if they don't like it. If the gift recipient is not a total dick, they'll appreciate the thought, then return the item and get something else.

Anyone who would scoff at or speak ill of someone giving them money is an idiot. It's a universal present that can be used literally anywhere. What other gift can you say that about? Also I'm genuinely surprised candles weren't mentioned. No one needs a candle. Not too many want a candle. It's like here is the potential open flame that may burn down everything you own should you fall asleep whilst using it (happened to my neighbor... one tiny candle, her whole house gone).

... I actually love getting shoes and books as gifts XD I got both last Christmas and love them! Though I asked for specific books (the Gillian Flynn collection) and I was with my mom when she went to get me shoes. So they're great gifts! You just have to be less traditional and more specific with them.

I'm pretty easy to please with gifts, I guess! The only ones I don't like are the thoughtless ones. But books, socks, clothing, and even money sometimes are all very likely to make me happy. As long as I can see how my family member had thought of me (even if the gift itself is a little off), I'm happy.

Yeah, sort of agree. Always go with FOOD. You can't go wrong with food. Oh, they will complain about it but almost everyone will enjoy the food.

As for money, clothes, shoes... nah... I would take her out for shopping but I will give her a budget unless she's picking someone I really like.

Money I'm cool with. I'm pretty much cool with anything, but it's the chance I'll get something I hate (ugly shirt, bad shoes, terrible book subject/author) that really ruin the gift. Well, you are completely right about those gifts, I never liked shoes, clothes, and letters (lol), but books are ok (some of them). Money is fine by me :)
