Grocery Store Tips

1. Park next to the cart corral

If you are lazy or efficient, park your car next to the cart corral. For one, only one person can park next to you and potentially damage your car, and two, when you are done putting your grocery in your car, you just have to roll it a few feet to return it. Bonus, many have large trashcans as well, so you can also conveniently toss any garbage away that's been in your car.

2. Bring a paper towel/tissue with you

Most grocery now offer hand sanitizing stations for your cart. Some do offer paper towels as well, but some do not. Bring a tissue/paper towel so you can wipe down the cart handle and then dry it off and toss both in the trash.

3. Bring some hand sanitizer

Opening those produce/meat department bags can be a pain in the butt. Hand sanitizer will moisten your fingers so you can then open the bags with ease.

4. Best time to shop is before 9am.

The only people shopping when the store opens are elderly, people who work odd hours, and morning people which make it the perfect time to shop if you don't like to be bothered by loads of crowds, screaming children or the fact that for 2 weeks in a row, your favorite ice cream has been out of stock. Early in the morning, the aisles are meticulously well stocked and cleaned and you are likely to find everything you need.

5. Sale sections are a thing

Many stores have sale sections in a couple of departments or areas of the store where they offer steep discounts on popular items. Typically these are located towards the backs of grocery stores. You can also find some really good deals on things like steak and other meats which stores must sell by a certain date, so check those aisles or ask an employee where they are, and save some money.

6. Register with the grocery app

If you frequent a particular store or stores, register with their app. Most offer deals that aren't always available in person and instead of an old fashioned paper coupon, all the cashier or you need to do is scan them at the register and your savings are applied and even in some cases, coupons online are tripled.

7. Shop online

If you are on a budget, you've got a ton of stuff to do, or you just want to, give online grocery shopping a try. Online you are able to see exactly how much you are being charged for items and can take away or add as needed to your online cart without having to walk all around the store. You can apply coupons, and in a glance you can compare product prices against one another and more easily read product labels. Then of course, someone else does the shopping for you and all you have to do is park while they load it into your car for pick up. Due to it's sharp rise in popularity during Covid, most stores offer pickup service now for free.

8. Never shop when you are hungry

You will end up buying weird stuff like Alpacan steaks that you don't need or want.
