Is the Volkswagen Beetle a good car? Is it expensive to maintain?

VW is German which means it should be good but the price point will tell you more than the brand. Im pretty sure most small town cars are not built as well as larger higher spec cars.
You could no doubt find a cheaper way to travel but when you buy what you love you dont resent what it costs you.
Buying new is always expensive and in my opinion should only be done if you dont have any money concerns and want to specify some sort of specific finish you can't find in the second hand market.
You should buy the top spec car at about 3 - 5 years old (not more than 7ish), avoid anything which is a special edition and therefore has requirements for rare parts.
Dont pay too much for 'low miles' this isn't the 1960s, you dont have to rebuild the cars engine every weekend and then bin it after 100k
You get one that's built good and you take care of it they're very good cars they are extremely expensive to maintain if they break but you take care of them they won't at least you have that me personally I would rather have a 1958 Volkswagen top 10 to 12 in out of the center of it weld it back together chop 8:to 10 in off the roof the top weld back together put some Fatty Fenders on it put a transaxle front end on the front of it lower put a built turbocharged 1600 cc motor in it
isn't it the cutest? I'm hoping to get a convertible type hehehe. I think they are a bit easier than most cars to maintain 😄
Ohh girl I'd like to buy that car as well and exactly the baby blue one as its shown in the pic
Me too

Lets see, German cars are kinda hit and miss right now. They're moderately costly to maintain, well no car is cheap to maintain. The beetle is probably more reliable than a Ford Taurus but not nearly as reliable as a Honda or Toyota.
There's so much technology crammed into German cars these days I just feel like there's a lot to break or go wrong. Though I have never really heard any complaints about the Beetle.
Other than its heratige and origin that is...
For $10 you can get a report from Consumer Reports. It’s one of the best to get a review of a car. It’s been around for about 90 years.

I learnt to drive in it.
As a VW driver, I don't know about Beetles specifically, but they seem to have an average-good reliability.
I don’t think it’s a safe car in my personal opinion. Any car that is boxy and small is not safe
Take the big brother of new Beetle, it's Porsche 992
It’s a good car for a young person. Not expensive to maintain.
They’re decent cheap cars, pretty standard maintenance costs
They are a cheap car and most likely easy on gas to maintain
I’m not familiar with the prices but that would be the perfect car for a girl like you the way you look and Carry yourself. 👍😊
I hate VW... but it is german which are more expensive than a japanese car
In my limited knowledge of cars I believe most VW's are quite reasonable to run and maintain
It’s not usually on the top lists but I doubt it’s a bad investment.
It's hard to find parts for it and it's engines fail after certain miles.
That's why they stopped it's production.
it's a plastic shitbox car not worth the money or the plastic it was made from
Me too!! Bates motel made me fall in love with it!
If you live in Europe It should be good
Thank pink!
Thanks!
For USA I heard they take a while to get replacement parts from Germany. And I have noticed most VWs one of the rear light is off.
Bulb 💡fuses I believe due to manufacturing defect?
Sorry don't mean to dissapoint you
Really? Is it expensive? I saw a website that sells car parts
It should not be expensive
I have never own VW so I have very limited knowledge
It may be time consuming to get some parts under warranty if they break down
There cheap enough here but I'm in Europe
Its okay and there cheap enough to maintain
I prefer cars which is taking me somewhere
