When shopping, do you arrange the goods in the shopping bags?

Today I went to the local supermarket to buy some stuff and after I paid I began putting the goods in shopping bags. A couple was surprised I take the time to arrange the goods. I do that mostly to preserve the bags, otherwise there's always something pointy that will penetrate the bag. We Bulgarians use mostly plastic bags, not paper ones. The plastic ones are easier to penetrate but they last a lot longer and can be reused.
I arrange them like this: anything in a plastic wrap and light stuff (like red pepper or spaghetti, for instance) together in one bag, bread-like stuff in another, cans and other metal and glass wraps in another and the toilet paper in a fourth bag.

Do you arrange your shopping bags or do you just throw the stuff inside and make the ultimate mess?

I arrange them only if I'm in the mood for that and if I'm not in a hurry.

And unlike women, I don't do the arranging at the cash-desk, thus holding the whole line. I don't know about the women in other countries but I have the feeling that in mine not a single woman has the brain capacity to think that arranging the goods in the bags AT the cash-desk holds the whole line and only annoys everyone + the cashier themselves.

Absolutely, cans and other indestructable items have to go to the bottom while other stuff like fruits or eggs must be on top so these don't get damaged.

And offcourse frozen items have to go into the isolated bag, so they stay frozen.

I live 5 minutes walk from the supermarket, so frozen items are not a problem. Even in the heat of the summer they need an hour to get unfrozen, so no need of special isolation.

We got one always in the car, so we use it just to be safe.

The cashier sorts the bags. We just pick em up and put em in the basket. But we do sit fragile stop on top (eggs, jars, etc)

In some markets the cashiers do sort them but they don't have much time to do that, especially if there's a long line of waiting people, so they put them like "whatever". By the time you go to the car or home, the bag is broken. That's why I prefer to do the sorting and tell them not to do it.

Here they have to do it because they place it in the bag as soon as they scan the object. They dont have a long enough section to sit the items aside for anyone to come over and sort them. As for fragile items, they double bag them. But its up to the customer to put the bags in their cart. The cashier just bags the item and then you bag the cart

That's why the managers have put these long tables 15-20 ft. from the cashiers, so I just put the scanned items back into the cart and move at these tables where I can take my time to sort things in peace.

Oh wow thats some serious extra work lol. Whatever makes you sleep better at night haha. We’ll just stick to keeping the fragile bagged items above the others
