I have a fine, white gold, white diamond pendant and a champagne and white diamond ring, that I bought from a secondhand store, still with their tags on. I’m poor, so I can’t afford new jewellery. My mum likes expensive stuff. Which is more appropriate; and for which occasion?
Okay sis, here's what I would do:
I'd give her the pendant for Mother's Day. Pendants feel more like a sentimental, loving gift which fits the vibe of the holiday. Plus it being white gold/diamonds makes it feel fancy enough for Mother's Day.
Save the ring for her birthday. A ring feels more like a birthday present since it has that celebratory element to it. Plus people usually don't expect as nice of a gift for their birthday as Mother's Day, so the ring would be a real treat.
Even though it's secondhand, I doubt she'll notice or care since it's still brand new with tags on. The fact that you put thought into getting her jewelry at all will mean more to her.
I'd also maybe find a cheap card or pretty gift bag to present it in so it looks more gift-like and special. And tell her how much you love her - I'm sure that will make her smile way more than the price tag ever could! Good luck sis, I'm sure she'll love whatever you pick 😊
