You ever have doubts about someone giving you a gift or gifts?

Like why all of a sudden is this person buying you gifts? Like what did they do that they aren’t telling you the truth about? , Like they are trying to cover up something that they aren’t telling you. I dated a girl once that constantly bought me gifts , at first I took it as she was being nice , but after sometime , it started to get a little to extreme, to the point I told her to please stop buying me gifts , to find out the truth , that she was screwing around on me behind my back , So ever since then , I have a hard time trusting someone that constantly buys me gifts , I guess I have PTSD from it or some shit lol , Do you ever feel this way about a gift giver?

I understand what you mean but I generally don’t question it from the core people in my life. I randomly buy gifts for people. Whether it be work colleagues , family or friends. Doesn’t have to be expensive to carry meaning and when it’s such an easy thing to do to put a little smile on someone’s face it’s totally worth it. The gift is never meant to be buying their time or to make them feel in anyway indebted to me. Should they not be able to see or understand that they can just decline the gift.

I rather give/get presents before or after Christmas, because it’s more meaningfully.

I did that before because the guy didn't have any nice clothes to wear. But I loved him and wasn't screwing around behind his back.
I buy little things for people I know when I go shopping because I am always thinking of other people and when I happen to see something they would like I get it for them. Only because I am thinking about them.
But I have done that since I was in junior high school days.

I grew up in a healthy home so I never really had an issue with believing material items given as gifts would be used against me as a form of debt.

Many years ago I pondered about it. Now I just accept the gift, say thank you and leave it at that.

Yea I only appreciate gifts that someone actually put thought into that actually means something to me , whether it’s big or small , it doesn’t matter as long as it’s something that they know I would like and appreciate, but if it’s just some random thing , save your money.
