Do I bring my date some cupcakes for his birthday?

Question

Went on a date with this guy last week, meeting him again this week :) everything is going well, and we are texting all the time :)

Our next date is the day before his birthday, he hasn't told me its his birthday... I've only seen it on Facebook. I don't want to buy him anything, but I'm really good at baking and thought I could bake him some cupcakes? A few of my friends said no don't do it, so thought it ask on here! Thanks :)

I love cuppycakes more than anything, believe me! But they do come in numbers, which can be awkward when you two can't finish twelve, in which case he might offer them around, leading you to have a moment of irrationality where you think "omg he hates them..." To avoid this, think maybe a single cup cake just for him, lavishly decorated. Or two, one for you and him to share. Or four, for bulk. I wouldn't go any more than that. That being said, a lot of hassle can be saved if you just make a giant cupcake/mini cake. A small cake is more intimate, made for two (or one) and can give you more creative room. Also, the extra batter is wonderful for indulging in cupcakes of your own before and after the date...Or making another one when you accidentally smudge the entire back of the cake during your frosting endeavors and have to start over. If you don't have a mini cake pan (4inches wide, five inches tall), you could always go a little smaller than that by filling two cupcake cups, bake, then slice each in half. After that, frost the layers and stick them together for SUPERCAKE! *cough* If you really want a pro look to it and want to use fondant, I swear, use a homemade marshmallow fondant. SO easy to make, color, and use. It does take a little practice, but hey, not you have extra batter! And make sure to wear gloves when adding the color, or you'll get tie-dyed hands on your date. I found that little edible pearls (in many colors) look really cool... same with edible glitter...so fun! (don't get it in your eye.Effing HURTS)

I think it's a great gesture :).  However, it's tricky.  It's really your call.  If he never mentioned that it was his birthday the day before your date, I'd say don't give him anything until he makes a comment about it being his birthday.  Also, if he does mention it on your date, you can bake him cupcakes on your following date.  Like a previous person said, people do put false information on their Facebook.  I know this Guy who did that and I suggested to the guy don't put anything if you want it on Facebook.  I'm the same way, I'm great at baking and enjoy baking for others. I said yes. Why not? I think it is really sweet. And, perrfect. Not a gift..but, kinda is haha.

@update: Maybe he is busy? Well, either way, do not take it to heart..he could be

just playing the catching game..he might want you to be into him..so he plays hard to get.

Texting each other is good, but don't over dot it ;-) You'll find out why..

Some piece of advice: "I was sick when it was my birthday (once) and I didn't want anybody to bother me..., suddenly the doorbell went and there my (ex)girlfriend stood, she had made me cupcakes with a card, get well soon..." My illness dissapeared rather quick! ;-) SO, IT'S A GOOD IDEAR!

While that would be a sweet gesture, it's too early for something like that; I wouldn't do it.  You want to base your actions on what you hear from him, not what you read on FB.  Besides, some people put false info in their FB profiles because of privacy concerns, joking around, etc.

It's sweet, plus who doesn't like to be shown that someone cares for them? And it's a couple cupcakes, not like you're running off to get married.

I think it's a great idea. It's thoughtful, shows you care enough to take the time, and may even lead to him thinking more about you than a simple fling(should that be what you want, I don't know, don't want to scare you).

I'd say, if it's what you feel, in your heart as best, then go for it.

Sounds good to me(: If you want, you can let him know... "Hey, on our next date, I have a little treat for your birthday(; " Or you can just completely surprise him. Either way, it's nice you want to bake him cupcakes.

I don't see what would be wrong with it, even if it ended up not being his birthday (the next day). I don't acutally know why anybody would really put a false birthday on their personal website but I suppose it's possible, especially if your paranoid enough. The only real thing I see going wrong is that he doesn't like cupcakes or certain flavors. But, no matter what-like slipslender said- it's a SWEET gesture.. HAH... get it?... pffft..
