Focuses for 2023

1. My physical health. Over the last couple of years I haven’t been in the best shape. I swear I lost 10 pounds because of work stress/not eating right, so I’m 5’10 165 now. My goal is to gain 10 pounds of muscle, and run a lot to help my cardio health. I’m also looking for a better job that gives me time to live and doesn’t leave me incredibly stressed.

2. My finances. I got out of all debt this past year and am investing quite a bit into a taxable brokerage account, maxing my Roth IRA, and putting 10% of my salary into my 401k (company matches the first 6%). I’m on my way to saving for a house also, and will continue striving to save as much as I reasonably can this year.

3. Make time for fun! I want to have a fulfilling career and save money, but I’ve also learned that life only happens once. It’s important to find time to do things you love and spend time with people you love. I’m going on a trip with my best friend in February and other family trips throughout the year around the country. You don’t need to break the bank, but I think it’s important to strike a balance between saving and exploring places and having experiences with people you love being with.

2022 felt more like a chore than it did “life” to me, so I’m hoping 2023 can be just a little better. Life always throws ridiculous curveballs at me time and time again, but one can only hope for a brighter future by taking some of the right steps to get there.
