Let me do some further debunking of this argument. The male species has generally had it programmed into them to pursue women. This has always how it's been. It's what is in nature too. How does it make sense to go against the grain of nature?

Not neccessarily, if I initiate contact then I got the power to choose place and time for example a date. I also think it's easier for us guys to approach a girl than the opposite , since it is more socially acceptable. So we got the power to choose the girl we like, girls got the power to say yes or no.
