Me and my boyfriend have been going out for a while and it’s been going really well, nothings gone wrong at all between us, I haven’t been so in love with someone before. Now some facts about me,
I’m short
I’m very pale
i’m not fat but I’m not thin and I have some curves.
Now I’m very insecure and I mean VERY insecure, I spend too much time looking in the mirror and judging and comparing but myself to others. Sometimes I’ve thought about starving myself and just sat in a corner and cried. I haven’t taken it to this extreme level though as I know it won’t get me anywhere.
The other day me and my boyfriend were talking, it’s really hot where I live which means more people are going to tan and because I’m pale I don’t tan at all. He said something which made me fee awul, he said that people who are tanned are better, as soon as he said this I flipped out, I tried to keep confident and ask him what he meant but Inside the insecure little me was crying. He explained how I’m everything He’s ever wanted and because I’m not tanned it doesn’t matter, he said I’m beautiful as I am and I have a lovely personality that surrounds me. He used an example of a made up person saying that I might like their tan but I wouldn’t like how they look or their personality, I guess that makes sense but it just thought it was a really insensitive thing to say as he knows I have insecurity issues. We are both really soppy and we both had a cry together in my Home, he was sad that he messed up by saying that and he said he knew that it was insensitive and I was upset because he was upset and I’ve bever seen him cry especially because he felt endangered that I was going to lose him when I love him. Was he right to say this or did I over react?
