I don't use an online translation program to actually speak with others but do it extensively to write to others and the results can be pretty hilarious.
Mainly those languages that do not have the same grammatical sentence construction can yield results that can be totally uncomprehensive.
Those languages would be those from the far east (Korean, Japanese, Chinese) as well as some other languages in Europe like Hungarian or Finnish that have not much in common with any of the languages based on either Greek or Latin origin.

There are apps that translate live as they talk to you without you having to type, I think google has one as well. I’ve used them. I’m not sure if that’s what your referencing.
I only use single words translated, after once I received a comment like:
" I see what you're trying to say, but..." (with a big grin attached to that)
