Aussie Shepherd
Absolutely My Favorite Breed. But, I think it all depends on a persons lifestyle & what they have a dog for?
@Chris423 They aren't just for sheep
Absolutely awesome dogs and guess what? They aren't Australian! The Australian Shepherd is a breed of herding dog from the United States. Developed in California in the 19th century, it is claimed the breed descends from a variety of herding breeds including collies.
@BethanYou I'll pretend I didn't read that

Breeding dogs causes genetic problems.
You mean cross breeding two different breeds cause genetic problems?
@On_cloud_wine No, purebred dogs have genetic problems.
Then how else to pass down the next generation of purebreds? I would think breeding the runt of a litter with the biggest alpha pup would maybe if anything cause genetic problems
@On_cloud_wine There isn't a way to do that without inbreeding. To get a new breed you breed some dogs together with desirable traits and once you have that new breed, you can only breed it with itself resulting in inbreeding. Also, weight at birth is determined by congenital as much as genetic factors.
So technically, you’re saying it’s best to breed a chihuahua with a boxer to prevent any genetic deficiencies?
What do you mean by congenital
Like I know it means hereditary.. I just don’t see the issue with inbreeding.
I’ve never heard of dogs born with abnormalities that way
@On_cloud_wine It's just best to breed two closely related individuals (i. e. members of the same breed) together because that causes and by "congenital" (vs. genetic) I mean it was determined after conception but before birth.
