Do you consider yourself to be broke, middle class or rich?

I went to visit an old friend today, she is living in another city and like I just spent easily 90 € just to have a burger with her lol
Anyways she for example sees herself as broke and all my ex-friends also would always call themselves being broke as fuck.

Honestly I hate being broke! The last time was like 4 years ago. I remember getting my tattoo appointment and having no clue how I will afford it lmao I did find a cool job to finance my tattoo, I typewrote for this old professor but I never wanted to be broke again.
And I can proudly say that I'm for sure middle class but working on my way up.

Like you, I've always been very broke, at least in terms of spendable cash. I bought my first place when I was 23. My best friend was supposed to live with me, but she backed out the day before I closed escrow. Therefore, I ended up with this 2-bedroom place, no roommate and a mortgage to pay all on my own. I was so broke then. I had to save every penny just to make my payment every month. I couldn't afford to eat out often, and if I went out with my friends (all of whom still lived with their parents), I'd have to skimp and bring cash so I'd only end up paying for my own meal. Splitting the bill wasn't an option because my friends were always extravagant with their orders. Even buying Christmas gifts was a huge financial stress for me each year.

Since then, I've worked my way up in my career and I'm doing much better financially. I can buy the things I need without worrying about paying my bills. I can buy my nieces, nephews and mom nice Christmas gifts without worrying about breaking the bank. I can travel (more or less on a budget, but I can afford it). I'm still smart about how I spend my money, but I'm definitely in a much better place financially now than I was then.

When I was just a kid, I had a stand on our front yard where I'd sell anything (fruits, juices, sandwiches, toys, crafts, etc.) I can to earn money. Plus, my dad would match my gross sales with a bonus to keep me motivated. Since then, I've always had the drive to earn money. I've never ever been broke.

In my later teenaged years, my dad taught me how to wisely pick stocks traded in Wall Street. He opened a "custodian account" so a minor like myself can buy shares of publicly-traded stocks. Those days, "net worth" was something only successful grown ups buzzed about. I was already building a financial portfolio heading into college.

I owe my successes to my greatest-ever teacher/mentor, my <3 dad. :)

Broke, never had a job and the way life goes with no responses to any application probably never will.
I'm cool with it though right now my life is good. I play videos games, watch stuff and read and live quite luckily even without much income. Honestly I don't care about earning money, my life is pretty sorted and I wish it stayed this way forever.
Free time > Money.
And if ya thinking jobless leads to homeless? That's not been my experience at all, my dad and mum have never even had real stable jobs in the past 15 years. My mum hasn't even worked at all since i turned 12. My dad spent about 3 years without one then got one for a year but it was only for that time then became jobless again for years and now he has a job but who knows how long that will last.

So I don't know life is weird, I am broke on paper getting benefits but living a life comfort.

I'm Middle Class, I recieve $841.00 a month now that pays bills plus $22.10 from the State I get disability income for mental illness and some physical illnesses but I'm so lucky for the raise will be getting, the COPA hasn't been raised for years. I used to weigh 372 pounds and now down to 254 pounds I got reach my goal. I read somewhere online I should weigh 169 pounds to not be overweight. I'm not a big eater and I have changed my eating habits over the last 2 years. I do watch the show My 600 lb life cause I want to discipline myself to show that I must lose weight.

Middle class but you wouldn't know it. I budget every cent, refuse to buy anything on credit and live on as closes to the minimal I can. So it's more about having some level of financial security and a emergency fund over owning much. It comes from financial security being a pipe dream growing up and being more stressed out when there wasn't a financial related crisis going on. Simply because not living in crisis mode was so far out of the norm.

i eat what i want,
No car payments, no house payment.
I can go weeks without being payed, And be just fine.

Statistically speaking, I'm "rich".
I earn an income in the upper 5%, on par with top management positions in my country.

In practice, I live like I'm broke because I just don't know anything about money and I don't have a clear vision of what to do with my life next.
I just spend stupid amount of money on food, that's about it.

the main reason people are broke or poor is they can't get their priorities right, you say you were getting a tattoo appointment, but didn't have a clue how you would afford it, I don't like tattoo's but each to their own, but that is a luxury that can be left until you can afford it easily

Upper Class > Middle Ckass > Lower Class > Broke

The first three are income brackets, the fourth one is a choice/mindset. If you're broke it's because you choose to be broke. You could have 2-3 shitty paying jobs just because you refuse to be broke.

But a lot of people don't have it in them to trade comfort for a better future. If you can discipline yourself to focus for just a year you could radically change your life

Money comes and money goes.
It's never in massive amounts and never in mini drabs. What it is is enough to live.
And for that I am grateful.
We could always do with more.
But as the saying goes, more money=more problems.

Since I was young I've had virtually nothing to do with them or their money, as we don't get along at all. I've made my own way and my own money. Even some of my friends don't know exactly who my family is, as I don't want them to treat me differently.

None of the above. I am working full time and plus. I work hard and okay hard. I enjoy all my possession dearly and live in a 2 story beach house in Southern California.
I guess the majority of my peers might consider me upper middle class I really consider myself working class because if I stopped working for a month or so everything would start crumbling down (finances etc)

Even people that have high salaries can be broke. All depends on how they budget and spend. My salary by definition would be considered upper middle class. However due to the cost of living here, I still live paycheck to paycheck.

I remember my mom said she'd like me to at least make 6k a month. Anything under that, then I'm broke.
Once I make that regularly I'll be middle class.

As an 23 year old I make around 150k a year. I live in New York. I'm able to save around 60 - 75k. A large portion I pay as taxes but I don't have any debt on myself. I won't call myself rich coz my net worth is just 100k including my savings and investments. I guess I'm still a middle class.
