When I was in my early teens (over 13), I would sit right next to my dad in the car when we were driving and he would let me steer. By 14 or 15, he would take me to empty parking lots and let me drive the car to get used to using the throttle, brakes and steering.
I took driver's ed my first semester of high school at age 15. I already had a really good grasp of driving.
As soon at I was old enough at 15 and a half, I got my learner's permit and my dad would go with me and give me instructions when I drove.
As soon as I turned 16 in 1970, I got my driver's license and my parents bought me a car, a 1966 Rambler American 2 door.00 Reply

+1 yWhen I was 18, I learnt car first.
Tomorrow was the license test. Practical.
And I did not know anything about bikes controls. My dad said that I was smart enough to relate the car controls with the bike controls, and told me to take a drive on 1st gear. I took it. Got it right in the first try. Practiced the night.
Got the license.
I park our cars really well. Like cut to cut. No damage.00 Reply- 4.1K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 yI learned to drive when I was 16. Got my learners permit the day after my birthday, spent a couple months learning to drive (my sister, cousins taught me, along with a couple hours at a driving school) and passed my road test on the first try, which gave me my drivers license.
00 Reply I started learning after university, but failed the test the first time, right before I was going away travelling for a few years, so I was about 24 or 25 by the time I actually got my licence.
