What is the worst thing you’ve ever said, intentionally or otherwise?

I’ll lead us out: so this was unintentional, but here goes. In my early 20’s, this girl I was dating asked if she could bring her best friend on a day time date we were going on that weekend. After considering, I said “I’ll have to pass, we don’t need a third wheel”. Dead silence. Her eyes narrowed. I got THE LOOK. At this point I’m sweating and starting to panic. She says “you’re a real son of a bitch you know that?” Having no idea what provoked this strong of a reaction I respond “why?” She pulls up a Facebook picture of the two of them and her best friend is in a wheelchair…

I wrote my crush an anonymous message.


The next day, he and all of our friends gathered for a bonfire.


We were about to play a game of cards when my crush says “I got the weirdest message last night, you guys wanna hear it?”


Oh shit…


He read the entire thing out loud…As he read it, he kept making brief eye contact with me with a huge smile on his face.


When he finished reading, our friends all clapped their hands and said things like “oooooooh! Someone has a crush on you!”


I thought he had it all figured out because of the way he kept looking at me.


At one point, our other friends left the table to go do something and my crush and I were alone.


I said “so, is there any particular reason you decided to read my message to everyone?”


He said “your message?”

I told a guy his life would never get better cause I was angry at him for saying bad things about me behind my back. Even though he was bad, what I said was unusually cruel.

I've never said anything worth regretting, and I don't think I ever will. I almost always say what I mean and mean what I say. Hypothetically though, I imagine the worst thing I could ever say is "I do." 🤵💍

As for you, I'd throw it back in her face that treating someone differently because they're in a real chair is very "Ableist" of her and that the same thing would be said if they were in a wheelchair or not. I'd also tell her that unless this guy or girl wanted to get involved in a three-way (something I'd never personally do, but would joke about, in this case), that they don't need to be the third-wheel on a DATE, and suggest maybe they hang out on a weeknight or something. In other words, I'd just be honest and say I wanted to smash later.

Looking back on it years later I wish I’d had the presence of mind to think like that, but being young and stupid in the early 20s I just fumbled the ball.
