Who wants to see the brand new baby bunny pics?

I stepped out front this morning to feed the big bunny some bread and I spotted this tiny new born baby bunny in the grass at my feet (so to speak) about 3" from the edge of the porch. I'm guessing it was just born this morning. I'm guessing the mother left it there because she trusts me enough to not harm her baby. It's not the first time I've had wild animals leave their babies "in my care". My bedroom window helped raise at least 2 dozen mourning doves. And, I found a baby deer nestled in some brush in the back yard 2 years ago.
Anyway, it was a good thing

I found that baby bunny when I did because, in a few moments, I was gonna try to finish cutting the grass and I'm SURE my mower would've run right over it and killed it!
In the first pic, the baby is just below dead center. In the second pic, it's almost exactly dead center. Because of the tall grass covering part of it, it might be a tad hard to pick out, even if you enlarge the pics. The camera was only about a foot above it, each time. As you can see in pic 2 (which was actually the first pic I took, it's actually inches away from the flat blocks (on edge) along the front of the porch. The big bunnies crawl over those to get the bread when I'm sitting on the porch.
In the first pic, the nose is pointed at the top of the frame and the ears towards the bottom. In the 2nd, the nose is pointing to the bottom but almost looks like it's facing you. A single blade of grass crosses over the center of right eye.

And here he is at 5 weeks. He's a rambunctious little scamp. One of my customers rescued him and I've visited him a bunch of times. His favorite food is avocados, and so I bring him a piece when I visit, and he tears across the house when he sees me because he knows he's getting his treat.

Whatever you do don't touch them or get close. Mom will let them die. They're cute though.

I got a feeling they don't bother with them after they're born, anyway. I had a baby bunny hear last spring, too but I never saw any other bunnies helping it out and the one adult that WAS here all the time wanted nothing to do with the baby. They'd both come up on the porch and beg for bread at the same time and eat their bread at the same time but, if one got to close to the other, sparks flew!
I WAS tempted to reach down and pet it but, I decided against it for the same reason. I was also gonna leave it some bread if it got hungry but, I figured that might not be a good idea. If a bigger critter came to get the bread and found the baby, they might eat the baby, too.

Baby bunnies are so cute! One year we had a mother rabbit have her babies in the flowerpot outside. There were 5-8 of them in there in the soil. And no, I didn't touch them, mom even told me not to. Since the mom won't take care of them if they smell like a human.

I usually get one but, some days I get 2 or even 3. I think I only got 4 once. There's a HUGE fir tree across the street that they live under.
In the back yard, I've got 5 or 6 deer wandering through almost every day. Looks to me like they're all females. None ever have antlers.

Even deer. You're so lucky. The best we got was a woodpecker.

Yeah, there's one of those around here, too. And, 4 years ago, we had chipmunks running around in the house. I'd never seen one before except in cartoons so, I thought it was a baby squirrel! Right after I saw the baby bunny, yesterday, I spotted this bird in the front yard I'd never seen before! It was coal black but had two bright orange stripes on or under each wing when it flew away.
And there was some small furry grey critter living under the tool shed next door a few years ago, I don't know if it was a badger, a woodchuck or what. They put bricks around the base so it couldn't get in, anymore.
As for the deer, if I have apples, I'll go toss them a few to eat. At night, they tend to come up here and roam around looking for something to eat and they seem to like these tiny red berries that grow on the hedges in the front yard.. They also like flowers and tulip bulbs!

I've seen one bunny, one pheasant, a lot of pigeons, the local woodpecker and that's about it. It didn't help that we had a cat :(

Never tried to have the deer eat from your hand?

I would, if they ventured up while I'm in the back yard but, they either run away when they see me or just stay way down at the bottom where I can't get to them. I don't understand why they'd be so scared. Nobody up here shoots them and there's so few cars, there's next to no chance of them ever getting hit. But, there's a bypass about a mile from here and it's always loaded with fast cars and the deer certainly take their chances on that road!! And, I'm certainly not gonna harm them! So, they SHOULDN'T be afraid of me! Most often, if I'm out back and we spot each other, I'll just wave to them and say, "Hi!" and then turn around and walk away. If I have apples, I'll go to the back yard and hold one up so they can see it before I toss it down to them. Even with that, sometimes, they'll still get spooked and run.
Same with the bunnies; I've been feeding them for a year, now but, they still get spooked if I make a sudden movent or get too close to them. They SHOULD know, by now, that I have NO intention of hurting them! I've HAD SO MANY chances to do so and still never did!
