My boyfriend told me that I can't sing?!

We've Been together for 5months. I was in his car and I turned on my iPod and I was listening to Halo by Beyonce. I was singing and I looked over to see what he was doing and he was driving and laughing. I thought he was listening to the radio so I took one of the things out of my ear and he had turned the radio down. He looks at me and goes "OhMyGod! You can't sing to save your life!" I was like "huh?" and he goes "you're not a good singer...but I like it tho. It's cute." I didn't know if I should be pissed or fine with it. I think I'm a good singer! Every other guy I've dated said I could lol so should I assume he's a hater or what? And was he not rude?!

My sister can't sing at all. she sound terrible. she always sings to music and it's so annoying because she sucks. she thinks she can sing, but she can't and she just ruins the song and hurts my ears. I hate it.

why would he be hating on you? lol I think a lot of times people just call someone a hater to feel better and completley dismiss any possibility of any truth in what that person has said. I don't think he's hating, no offense but you probably just can't sing. Maybe it was a little rude, but it sucks when you're around someone who thinks they can sing but they sound horrible and they won't shut up

I would take comfort in the fact that he thinks it's cute, though, even if you aren't the best singer.

yeah he only meant it in a nice way, and he's entitled to his opinion right? And besides I can sing really well when I try but if I'm rocking out to the radio when it's so loud I can't even hear myself I can get totally out of tune and sound horrific so maybe you sounded awful at that moment but generally you can sing :D

no that wasn't rude, most people think they can sing good, I'm not one of them, I know I can't sing. The other guys you have dated didn't want to be rude and lied to you, becasue they didn't want to hurt you feelings. Be glad that your dating someone that tells the truth

He was not rude. Sooooo many people think they can sing including me. Once I hear my voice recorded I am like omfg. Chances are you cannot sing and the other x bfs were being nice or have a bad ear.
