This is a question in the series on Cities of the World. Each question contains several things about a city and the goal is to guess what city that is. Unlike the country questions, there is no starting letter hint. We'll try to have a new question each day.

Hint: The city may or may not be one of the cities in the picture.

Some are saying these questions are still too easy... maybe this one will require some careful thought.

* On a clear day, you can the tallest mountain on this city's continent from this city

* In its native language, the city name means "Cool Water"

* This is both a city and an administrative region

* It's the only city in the world with a National Park inside the city limits

* The average elevation is 1795m (5889 ft)

* It's the 10th most populous city and 5th most populous capital city on its continent

* To stop a plague, the entire city was burned and rebuilt... many years ago

* Main transport in the city is mini-buses

* The nearest ocean is 300 miles (480 km) away

This was much harder than expected.

The correct answer is Nairobi Kenya.

Some details...
On a clear day, Mt Kilimanjaro (tallest in Africa), 165 miles away, is visible
The entire city was intentionally burned in 1900 to stop the spread of plague, and later rebuilt
The Indian Ocean is 300 miles away

Well my first thought was Toyko, that is iconic for being able to see mount Fuji and seems like the sort of place someone might burn to the ground but it is too close to the sea and not high enough.

So thinking more about the height above sea level and more importantly highest mountain on continent, that is the biggest clue by far surely?

(I know, don't call me Shirley) I still don't know what that is but there are a lot of mountains on the west side of South America, so I'm gunna go for that.

The capital of Chile, which I had to look up; Santiago.

I'm guessing one of the African countries. I tend to think of Kenya when it comes to national parks because that's the one everyone visits. Is it narobi?

Surely there's lots of cities inside national parks world wide. I'm having lunch in one now.

When I thin of mini buses I think of India, South America, and Afriica! It has to be Nairobi in Kenya. My Kilamajaro can be seen from it, and it’s the only city with a national park inside of it.

for the first time... I had to tap out, lol

but some of the facts just don't align well enough for me... whether is the elevation of the city, the fact that is also a capital and has a national park, and also the double/population ranking which by the way, many have changed recently due to the 2020 census...

all other facts even add to the confusion... lmao
