I learn how to cook at 29-30 years old, is this weird for a Latina?

Believe or not, I didn't know how to make a single dish (except microwavable soups, a simple fried steak, boiling rice or fying an egg) during my younger years.

I wasn't one of those Latinas that grew up cooking. Sometimes I got spoiled at home and they never taught me how to cook. For instance when I came home from college or work (my younger years), I got served my meal. I learned it through Google and youtube on my own later on when I was 29/30 years old.

I've surpassed both my mother and grandmother in the kitchen by now. I can even correct them by now.

I dont understand what people mean by learning to cook. Recipes are already written down. Whole books are full of them, in fact. There is no need to know how to do anything but follow written instructions. I suppose measuring cups can take a minute but they are ultimately straightforward.

The challenge to cooking is really just accepting that it takes about an hour to make anything. So that'll be an hour of your day you aren't going to be able to spend relaxing.

really? just read the directions... anyone can cook. now to make it actually taste good is a different topic.

i'd say you are privileged to have always had your meals handed to you.
