Most cats have brought a mouse home and most dogs have found a lost ball which suddenly becomes the best thing ever. But has your pet ever found anything interesting?

One day a red haired starving young male cat appeared in our garden. Our vet took care of him and he stayed with us. He still had a strong hunting instinct, and often, when he didn't catch anything, in the morning we found a little branch at the doorstep. That cat did that during many years, and my wife put all the branches together in a vase. I still have that vase with the branches, and the cat is now about 14 years old.
To understand, keep in mind an adult cat brings food (prey) to its nest. Having not caught anything, the cat displays what Desmond Morris calls a displacement activity by still bringing something home, a way to show he's trying to participate in the family needs.
Just about a year ago, two of our cats were in a tight circle in the driveway. I expected to find a mouse or a bird, but, no. They were surrounding an 14" long baby diamondback rattle snake. Luckily the cold concrete driveway had sucked most of the heat from the snake, and it was moving very slowly, because on a warm day, the snake could have easily bitten the cats and potentially killed them.
I got Sam the Snake in a bucket and took him way out into the fields to let him go. I was happy not to have to kill him myself, but if he'd been more of a threat, I would have.
I had a cat that would go out and roam during the summer and he’d always bring something back. A bug, rodent, sometimes a snake. Knowing what I know now though about outdoor cats I wouldn’t have another outdoor one.
Best thing my dogs ever found though would be a box of puppies. Someone had just dumped them in the woods they were maybe 4 weeks old no mom in sight. I loaded them up into the car and contacted the local shelter.
A deer head and neck. Still 0 idea where they found it.

As an adult, my cats have always been strictly indoor pets. So unless we have a rodent problem, they don’t usually bring me offerings. I had a friend whose old, fat cat would surprise us regularly! Ha! You wouldn’t think the cat COULD catch a ground squirrel, let alone WOULD. And she never killed them! She’d just bring live rodents into the house and let ‘em loose! Bad kitty! Ell oh ell!
We had cats when i was young that were prolific hunters and brought home lots of offerings. They ate some and gave us some. Good kitty!
All my dogs seem to find is poop and dead things to roll around on. Bad dog! Ell oh ell!
I live in a 125 year old house that has heat ducts that are likely around 90-100 years old from a gravity furnace. The ducts are now used as the cold air returns for a modern forced air system. While we were remodeling a room the cover was off a vent and my cats went right in. Not only did we discover the ducts hadn't been cleaned since the house was heated with coal, but the cats retrieved a bunch of cat toys that were probably around 60 years old (and mostly dry rotted). They were quite creepy looking and they stashed them all around the house to provide a good startling for years after.
She has brought 4 snakes, 2 rabbits, 10 or more chipmunks, 6 or so mice or voles, and probably at least 100 birds. I gave her a cat door to my basement and she used to bring stuff in alive so she could chase it around. I came home from work once with an absolutely exhausted chipmunk inching its way along the floor and her trotting behind it purring. That was.. interesting.
I dropped my keys between the stove and fridge once at my apartment and could not reach them. My cat heard the jingling and wanted to play with the keys so she went and got them lol She knocked them where I could reach them. I ended up giving her a treat and she was so happy :)
Walking Meg the Welsh Collie down the wet meadow, I was admiring a single draft horse on the far side of the river while Meg found a pile of fox poo and was busy coating herself in it. Sadly I had to give Miss Moo the hose when we got home.
My girlfriend's cat found a baby bird that had escaped. I don't think the cat wanted to hurt the bird it was just a bit too inquisitive hanging round it and scaring off mother bird.
Many years ago, our dog found a change purse full of coins while we were out walking. Our current dog likes bringing home sticks, which we use as kindling for the fire pit.
One Thanksgiving as we were getting the turkey out of the oven, my cat brought a rabbit to the door proudly making her contribution to our supper.
My cat Merlin was really good at inventing apps for cats. She designed some pretty killer action games for the iPad. Sadly, Merlin died from some toxic flea killer, but she died a rich genius.
He brought home a bird. He caught it in mid flight. That cat was a great hunter. Now that he is gone we are overrun with chipmunks
Fish can't find anything lol. Pro or con, depending how you look at it.
When I was young I had a cat (I believe I should stipulate it was not a sabre tooth tiger) that 'found' a taipan about 2 foot behind me. this allowed me to find a DEAD taipan in a similar location instead of the cat finding a dead owner.
Dog found a used panty which was NOT my girlfriends at the time!
