Statue of Liberty gifted by the French to America it is located on Ellis Island in New York. It was created to get the French to be more like Americans; a la free enterprise.

  Statue is on Liberty Island, not Ellis Island, which is where the old immigration processing facility is located.

  Yes, Ellis Island is where all the immigrants had to sign in when they came here. But it's an interesting museum these days.

The Statue of Liberty given to NYC from France! It is actually copper in color and changed to green because of oxidation. :)
