Do you really need to pierce a baby girl's ears?

It really bothers me to see how painful that must be. It's usually done with a piercing gun, which feels like a small stapler going through the skin.

Those poor baby girls cry a lot. Does it really need to be done? I would hate to put a baby through that pain. I don't like seeing a baby cry in pain. I can understand vaccines but an ear piercing for the sake of just accessories so the baby looks prettier?

From the looks of those videos, it seems no anesthesia is given at least. Just piercing through the skin like that. Inconsiderate. Poor baby.

I’ve never understood why parents feel the need to do that to their baby. It’s a body modification that has no positive outcome, and the child can’t consent to it. I’m thankful that my mother had common sense and waited for me to ask to have my ears pierced when I was 12.

What’s next, giving babies tattoos? What happened parents not wanting their girls to get their ears pierced until a certain age? It seems everything that was once considered sexual eventually become the norm. (Is that why girls get piercings in so many places nowadays? Keeping up with the times?)

I always found that very bizzare. That is something the kid should decide for themselves, when they are older. Not the parents.

Now while it’s short term pain and not a huge deal, I don’t agree with piercing a babies ears. It’s not necessary and can wait until the baby is older and can decide if she wants her ears pierced

i had my ears pierced when i was a baby and i don't remember it, it's the parent choice ultimately to get it pierced young or to wait a few years when the kid asks for it

I don't know why we do it... my 28-year-old daughter told me when she was around 10... why did you pierce my ears, you should have let me make that decision and she was right 🤷🏿‍♀️

I hate it when some of those baby girls are even smiling in the beginning, only for them to agonize for minutes, just for youtube likes and people saying ''cute earrings''.. pathetic. The baby didn't that pain, that cute innocent face that didn't see that coming.
