Depends how the person Is, some people react toxic out of jealous and others don't, you can have a jealous person and they can treat you either way, the only difference is that with one you easily realize they are jealous and with the other, you won't have a clue.

You will if they behave toxic, trust me, usually their toxic behavior comes with self reflection, if for example they insult you about a problem you simply don't have but you see they most likely fit that insult more, that's a clear sign of self reflection and that person is most likely jealous.

Looking down on someone usually comes with your own pedestal, you up yourself and down the other person, if they aren't putting themselves on a pedestal then it's most likely just cause their jealousy is the core.

If you pay attention to them, you'll know cause usually there's moments where they would compliment themselves or try to flex their pride. with jealousy it's just hateful behavior towards you but you can tell they aren't necessarily proud of themselves, normally you cn tell by the insults they use towards you.

"You are ugly and stupid and put the hair pin on wrong, how can you be so stupid?" This is the person putting themselves on a pedestal because they believe you are stupid and feel like they aren't and that's why they are calling you out

"You are so ugly, you didn't even do the hair right, you put the pin on wrong and made it uglier" this is sounding more like jealousy cause it's all about you you you and showing aggression from insecurity.

Something else you can notice is that most of the time the aggression is always about what they are jealous about, they say things that will make you feel less about that and you feeling less of yourself makes them feel better about yourself.

Looking down on someone, you are rude cause you feel like you are better than them and I've noticed usually the aggression doesn't even stay within topic most of the time, they always find other things to throw at you to make you feel worse, at that point it doesn't come from jealousy and it comes more from ego.
