+1 yI had to practice it all the time when I was learning English, like this:

I even started to take a lot of pride in my penmanship and learned to vary stroke thickness with fountain pens.
Yet when I went to high school, the teachers demanded that we avoid cursive and just write everything in clear print. After that I stopped practicing cursive all together.
I've since forgotten the rules for some of the letters. It's been at least 30 years now, I think, since I last wrote in cursive. Kind of a shame.
I can still read it reasonably well though provided it isn't too sloppy.

Asker+1 yYea I remember these, they had dotted lines for the lowercase and bold lines for the capital ๐

I miss that a bit! Maybe as a hobby, I should relearn how to write in cursive as impractical as it may be. When I was a boy, I always loved the idea of exchanging love letters with my girlfriend written in elegant cursive. It's so different from this age where we send text messages like, "Fine. HBU?" Not very romantic.
Asker+1 yYep sounds like a romantic gesture, valentines is coming up too so maybe it's a good opportunity

+1 yHard to believe, but there are some people who can speak in cursive. Coming back to your question, yeah I can write it and read it without any problem. Back in my childhood, it was compulsory for children to learn cursive at school in Turkey.

I can write it and read it. I come from a background in printing, though, so I'm used to reading things inverted as they would be on a printing press.

Asker+1 yDoes cursive count as a font?
- +1 y
There are many typefaces that are cursive in design, and new ones are created each day. "Cursive" would be a genre or type of letterform. The are also block typefaces, serif typefaces, decorative and many others. A "font" is a particular typeface in a particular size, with particular modifiers (bold, italic/slanted, etc). So in theory, any typeface could have an unlimited number of font variations. ( My Bachelor degree was in Graphic Arts, so I eat, sleep and breathe this stuff every day! )
Asker+1 yFair enough, only like half of that made sense to me lol
- +1 y
It confuses me after 60 years of dealing with this stuff! The term "font" has been diluted due to all the on-line media and apps that misuse the term "font". 1. A typeface STYLE or GENRE is the widest category. 2. Then you have many particular TYPEFACES in that category. 3. Then you have variations of that typeface, and each and every variation, in each and every size, is a different FONT. Think of a pyramid. STYLES would be at the bottom. TYPEFACES would be next up. A "font" is the smallest part of the pyramid and be right at the top.

They drilled us SO hard in cursive. We had this guy Mr. Moran who would show up like twice a year and test you, and youโd get a sticker as a grade. I think it was Gold Seal, Gold Star, Silver Star, Blue Star, and Red Starโฆ.. if you got Red Star you were remedial as fuck, lmao. I think I usually got a gold star, I couldnโt quite hit the Gold Seal perfection level. That Mr. Moran guy would hit you with the same joke EVERY TIME too, heโd ask your age, and heโd say โyou write youโre 11 going on 55!!!โ He was a fuckinโ cornball, lmfao
Asker+1 yYou also had those papers specifically designed to teach cursive with the bold and dotted lines? ๐

- +1 y
long story short... a lot of my hobbies and interests came to a halt, or a full stop during my early childhood and teens
depression sucks... lol
so, after that and as I grew up, it just took some time to catch up and pick up things again
Asker+1 ySo did you get back to your cursive shit? ๐
- +1 y
yes, signatures... and notes, I still use cursive and personal letters as well
it's way more faster for me to write and I do have a neat penmanship
however on my personal notes on the daily, I am worse than a doctor, which is fine... because only I need to understand them anyway, lmfao
Asker+1 yHave you tried any other types of writing styles? If they exist of cpurse

yes, all of them...
so it would depend on what is it for so I know them all

You literally only have about 3 years of English in your life, he has over a decade, you learned English way quicker than him, i wouldn't expect you to not have an accent actually, I expect an accent at 3 years, nah foreal tho I know I'm roasting him hard here but it's all love ๐๐ฏ- +1 y
