I recently found a suitcase full of cash... need serious responses.
I’d keep it but everyone in the comments brought me back to reality lol.
I say… maybe hold it for a month to a year and if anyone threatens you, you ask for a reward and say you never spent it. Although I just thought of a wonderful life movie- so………. Poor Mr Bailey. You should like return it if found in a public place. Like a restaurant or airport. But mention it to a manager with some witnesses so it doesn’t go crazy…

Nobody accidentally leaves suitcases of cash lying around, you can guarantee some unsavoury character is watching with a gun to make sure the wrong person doesn't stumble across it.
The IRA used to leave cases on our cliff top paths, I suspect you soon fell off if you picked one up.Id like to say keep it , but there would be so much danger in keeping it , I think it would affect my life greatly..
And because I'd love to invest the 200k , if someone came a knocking , Id have to liquidate quickly and maybe even have a short term debt , in Australia many have been killed or dumped at sea in circumstances like this , and these people think nothing of torture or murder , thats their trade.
I'd have to hand it in , even then I'd be scared.. And there in Thailand? I'd just walk away , do nothing , certain death.
I'd hand it in.
Here in the UK, when someone claims it they have to give you 10% as a reward. If however it isn't claimed within 3 months, it's legally yours!
Most likely though it is part of a sting operation to trap people into breaking the law, OR Gangster money! Either way, to keep it is taking too big of a risk!
You can keep it if you like unannounced guests at 3 am with guns and baseball bats...
Here, you call the police but do not touch anything... Any left unattended baggage must be reported...If you turn it in, you're an idiot. You'd never see it again, and police may even accuse you of a crime.
You might want to casually report that you find a suitcase, but don't give any further details (but GET the details of who you reported it to, and when, and keep that information). Advice the police that if someone claims it within the next 30 days, and can accurately describe it, it will be returned to them, but afterwards, you will keep it. You may have someone try to claim it, but likely they will not be able to give an accurate description - they'll just be fishing. But it's also possible that someone can give you a very precise description, in which case, I recommend returning the case to them.
If you do this, AND it turns out that these are marked bills or the money is otherwise involved in some crime and some agency is tracking them, then at least you will have made a good-faith effort with the police to protect yourself from prosecution.
'Finders keepers"... I don't know, depends on the circumstances. Finding a large amount of money like that smacks of some illegal transaction, maybe narcotic money.
Might be better to turn it in rather than having some asshole looking for you to cut your balls off and take back his drug money?
I would keep it. The person who was careless enough to not keep his eyes on the money is an idiot
Probably drug dealers money for selling Fentanyl laced drugs.
Or they probably stole it from someone else.
It just seems to smell like shit and if something smells like shit, it is!!!
They don't deserve to get it back to finance the cartel crew.
I'll keep it and disperse it to the needy, not criminals!I said turn it in. I would have to know that it is going to the actual owners though. I wouldn't take it to the cops, as it would likely end up sitting in an evidence locker or in their bonuses at the end of the year. LOL
If it was money from drugs or another unlawful source then I would definitely put it to a good use, like drop it off at one of the shelters that takes in abused women and kids.
Keep it obviously though I would move the cash into a different bag before heading home. Nobody tracking me.
And then because I can't just put it in my bank as that would be sus, I would use the cash to only buy things in person.
And I would still buy my weekly food shopping with my bank card since that would also be sus if all the sudden my account shows I just stopped buying food.- u
here, specifically here where I live... I am not touching that thing
because it's not lost... lmao
someone left that there, and they know they will find it... I'm not touching it. $200k suitcase is likely dirty money. I wouldn't even want to get involved in returning it. Could end up like the scenario in the movie Lucy.
If it was something less, I'd try and return it. I know I'd want someone to return my stuff to me if it was the other way around.I guess most of us have seen „No Country For Old Men“, sooo… 🤔
Return it to who? Some drug dealer/buyer? Take it to the cops and they will keep it for 30 days and then put it in their bank account. Finders keepers! Funny how a lot of people won't help anyone dying on the sidewalk, but will do anything to grab some free cash they see lying on the ground. 🤑 😣
Disperse it around. No one really leaves a suitcase full of money without raising questions
Turn it in. Drug dealers will think nothing of killing you and everyone with you to get it back.
With that much money, you'll probably be in trouble either way. At least if you turn it in you will maybe have the police on your side.
Turn it in. You may get a reward for turning it in.
It would depend on where it was when I found it. If it was buried somewhere, I'd keep it. If it was left somewhere like on a bench, I'd turn it in
I would probably keep it unless I found outcit belonged to some poor elderly person. Then I would give it back.
It's cash. Now it's yours. No morality involved at all because it's cash.
