There is always going to be someone who hates us no matter how hard we try to practice kindness. I have people who hate me, and I did nothing to them. The only thing I can think of is that they hate who they are in comparison to me, and they must direct that feeling somewhere. I'm nothing special, but I am genuine. Being genuine requires vulnerability and some people cannot be vulnerable due to unhealed hurts from the past. To move from their current position to a position of humility, vulnerability and learning is to admit that they are sometimes wrong, and to risk someone seeing their true feelings and fears. Many people can't do that.

I do my best to continue being kind and gracious. I can't control how they feel, but I can control my response to it. I fail sometimes, though... :D
