Seeing this ugly ass car in public always manages to ruin my day 💀

My friend and I saw one behind us on the highway last night and we both started screaming LMAOOO

I damn near crash my car every time I see it. Dumpster looking ass

I know this is unpopular, but I like them, despite the politics of Elon. My initial reaction was thinking they were hideous, but when I understood WHY they look the way they do, I started to appreciate the aesthetics.

The design goal of the truck was to maximize the range with the fewest number of batteries. Trucks are heavy vehicles so throwing in more heavy batteries is a crappy strategy because they're expensive and would perform worse and take longer to charge. In fact the Cybertruck has way fewer batteries than other EV trucks and it's a big reason why they handle really well and can beat sports cars off the line. This is important because the truck market is huge in the US and creating products that force other auto manufacturers to build electric trucks (or lose marketshare from their cash cows) is a huge deal for moving the needle towards electrification of vehicles domestically, and how that reduces carbon, as well as frees up the US from relying on fossil fuel from the Middle East and Russia.

So if you want to build a truck that has the fewest batteries and still gets a good range, you need to cut weight. One idea is to remove the standard frame of the vehicle and get the strength of your vehicle from its skin the way airplanes and rockets work. So you go with a strong outer skin, but now you need to shape it into a body design. Because it's such a tough material, it becomes impossible to stamp in compound curves like we see on most cars and trucks, and so you have to design it to have simple folds instead.

Aerodynamics are also critical for maximizing range from the batteries. So now if you had to design a truck using only straight folds and try to get something as aerodynamic as possible, it's probably going to look a lot like the Cyber Truck.

And it's working. All of the major manufacturers are making EV trucks when they almost certainly wouldn't have if not for the Cyber Truck.

So yes, it's goofy looking, but I understand WHY it's goofy looking and that makes it awesome in its own way. At least to me.

I love the fact that it’s tough and I like this stainless steel. It looks cool and I just like the toughest about it and I liked all the options that has your electricity in the computer and all that stuff but it just it just doesn’t have that tough truck I don’t know Maybe I just need to let it grow on me amount of manipulation I’m really happy that I mean it’s OK I wouldn’t mind having one for a little while, but it just looks a little funny. I just can’t quite say hell yeah it’s so fucking cool. It is cool but I just there’s just something I can’t get my head around. I need to keep looking at it and thinking it needs a design change or something to make it look maybe I’m just used to the regular pick up truck look I don’t know it is cool though And I would drive one for a while at least maybe i’m sure all the things that I can do that it’s programmed with. I heard it could even fart loudly when you push the horn which I think it’s cool as shit. I think it should say in the voice of Ozzy Osbourne get out the way bitch what you probably can make it do that if you wanted, it’s just a look not quite what I’m used to probably the same for most

I see a lot of people hating on the truck. I wonder how much of the hate is from people genuinely not liking the truck and how much of it is from Hating Elons politics.

Personally I think it looks cool! It reminds me of 64 bit era games. I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea, but I still like it. Granted I'd never by that thing in a million years. I don't need a truck, and even if I needed one, It kinda sucks as a truck. It's electric so it has all the problems that come with that, and with it's sharp edges it's not a very safe thing to drive. Plus the cost!

Not a fan. I actually saw a tiktok from a Cyber Truck owner that lives in a place that gets snow and he was saying the worst part of them is where the headlights are. They are further back rather than right in front like regular cars so when it snows, snow completely covers the headlights and it’s like driving with no headlights. Very dangerous!

I don't think they're "ugly". I think they look like props from a sci-fi movie set. Such a thing will be impractical but look futuristic. And such a thing would usually be on a fake movie set road where you don't have to worry about blind spots or the fact the front of your car collects 1,000 dead bugs and dings from gravel every day.

Just a bizarre, nonsensical car that tries to mask its intentionally poor exterior design with futuristic engineering.

There's a lot of technological innovation in this car. One of those is that exoskeleton the car's body is made of.

A conventional car design would be super expensive to build with those bulletproof alloy panels, but Elon wanted to test that material Tesla produces in house in some production car and the result is this, in my opinion
