I'm pretty sure they are, I wonder if the same person made it, maybe he was craving something sweet or salty and made one copying the other, id imagine the bagel came first but who knows, I refuse to believe it wasn't inspired by each other tho lol

Bagels are boiled and baked. Doughnuts are fried. 😌 Interestingly many pastries contain a bit of salt, usually a pinch to balance out the flavors, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a close amount of sodium.

Personally I find the texture to be slightly different, also donuts are fried while bagels are cooked into water and then put into the oven. Recipe is also extremely different.

They are soaked in lye (sodium hydroxide) and normally contain little sugar.
Would you put smoked salmon, sour cream and dill on a donut?
No, they are different.
