6 moHate texting because you can't type well and I'm a good typist, and texting, just like email, has a lag. Also, I don't check my phone every minute. Sometimes it's in my backpack, or I'm outside in my garden, or I leave it at home when I walk to the grocery or pharmacy which are both a few blocks from my house.
It's simply too difficult and you cannot hear TONE in texting. Too easy to misconstrue what is being tested.
When listening to people on the phone you CAN hear what they mean, or possibly get a joke, or know when someone is pissed/angry.Am having this problem with a friend. She wants to text GIGANTICALLY long messages that are too hard to respond to.. It's exhausting.
Texting is for short info. Meet me here. Call me there. I'll see you Tuesday. The directions are this. Happy b day. Thanks. You're the best...10 Reply

6 moCalling… I prefer hearing a person’s voice then I call feel their vibe better
Texting is impersonal… I can’t show feelings with words on a page … i can’t truly express what I’m trying to say20 Reply

6 moDepends on the purpose. If i can express myself fully and effectively in a few lines, text is fine. If not, a phone conversation is better. Maybe i’m in a noisy environment where i can’t hear and they might not hear me. Or maybe i’m within earshot of people who don’t need to be part of the conversation.
I was resistant to texting early on, but it definitely has its purposes.00 Reply

u 6 moVoice-to-voice calls are much more productive and much more meaningful than texts. The younger generation's reliance on texting correlates with the decline in social skills and feelings of alienation and disconnectedness.

Im also thinkin this is the case. a lot of my younger friends and my little brother, never bother calling a girl at all. instead just wait for her text for days... its insane.

6 moIt depends on what I’m contacting them for. For friends and family I usually just send a text, especially if it’s non urgent. More urgent things I will call. Like now as I’m job searching, I send follow up emails out to companies I applied to because calling would be too awkward for me. There’s only one company I have been calling as they reached out to me by phone but I missed the call and have no other way to contact them so I have to call them. That’s how it works for me now. Years ago I was too shy to talk on the phone so I wanted to text for everything. Thankfully working years in customer service has helped me break out my shell.

6 moI prefer texting, following up with a call if the person indicates they are available.
Calling someone is disruptive, forcing them to interrupt what they are doing and answer the call. They can read a text whenever they want, and reply, or not, at their leisure.
30 Reply 2.7K opinions shared on Other topic. Texting for short messages and sending photos.
But I hate typing out long texts and trying to converse via text. It's absurd adding emojis to convey mood and meaning.
I enjoy phone calls, hearing the person's voice, laughing, and having a back and forth conversation. Phone or in person are the only ways to actually converse.20 Reply- 1.8K opinions shared on Other topic.
6 moCalling.
Texting doesn't convey tone of voice, inflection, volume, etc.
Those things imply a lot regarding meaning/intent behind words.
Plus, if you have texting, during a call you can still text images or photos, so there is no reason to choose texting over calling for the actual conversation.10 Reply - 3.2K opinions shared on Other topic.
6 moTexting. I work nights and fucking hate phone calls due to it waking me up. I can reply to a text anytime so that is what I prefer. My dad called me today and woke me up over something inconsequential that could have easily been dealt with through text. Now my sleep deprived ass is on break and about to fall asleep.

6 moIt depends on the info I need, sometimes A quick call is all I need, and I can get the context right! Sometimes when I text someone, I might be like, "Hey what size is your deck?" Answer - "14 x 18, hey how is everyone over there, did you watch the game the other night?" All I wanted was the deck size, now, Im lost in a conversation!
10 Reply2.4K opinions shared on Other topic. Definitely calling... It's a lot more personal and appropriate than a bunch of typed out words.
40 Reply2.1K opinions shared on Other topic. Texting because I am always watching something and they'll disturb it.
Calls is only good for umm one thing... Tbf it can also be good if was gaming but when I game I want to focus more on that. A show is much easier to mutiltask to.
10 ReplyIdeally calling people as it’s more personalised and the connection feels more authentic, you can hear their voice and tone. Better and more effective communication than texting.

6 moI prefer calling. When you call someone you can quickly say/ask what you want and you can get a faster reply. I don't like holding conversations through text.

6 moI will generally try to reply in the same specie as the message received, ie, phone call for a phone message, email for an email reply, etc. If the subject is of an urgent nature, I will call. If it can wait, I'll just send a message/email.
10 Reply calling, texting take a damn long time (like 30 min conversation on call= one hour long conversation on texts)

10 Reply Funnily, the science here is that it easiest to lie on a spoken call. Email or text creates a written record, face to face you are kind of forced to be honest. Phone... it's carte blanche
