Are you more of a Pessimist or more of a Realist?

I used to be an optimist. I was energetic, happy go lucky, and things always turned out for the best.
Now I am laid back. But where social and global issues are concerned I am a 100% realist. I don't allow myself to get depressed or feel frightened. I figure what ever is going to happen will happen. I passively refuse to comply with rules I don't agree with.

I consume lots of information about current events, but I am not swayed by ideology, partisan politics or consensus. I seek truth and reality and have good sources of information. In that regard, I find myself in a minority.

Not much difference, but I'm a realist in the sense that I can do the math and predict the outcome of most situations simply by not letting emotions override logic, unless it's an emotional situation, which is still entirely predictable using basic logic.

Realist. Or at least that's always my goal. I try to not let myself get swept away by and give in to my desires, emotions, and personal bias. But I also try to distance myself from irrational negativity. I try to maintain healthy skepticism and evaluate situations and decisions based on the facts, my own morality and ethics, and a "best possible outcome" mentality. I'll solicit other opinions if I'm having trouble deciding on my own.

But... it's really hard to keep from sliding into pessimism given what I've witnessed of humanity over and over again. Greed, stupidity, violence, lust for power, corruption.

I have always been told I have unconventional approaches to life. I can go back and forth but I'm mostly sometimes ridiculously optimistic. But that has brought me nothing but good fortune as your thoughts and your attitude can reflect in your reality. Though I am capable of being realistic and logical.

I consider myself a realist. A lot of people think I'm a pessimist, but I just say things as they are.

Wanna start a new business? I'll call it out as stupid if I think it's a bad idea.

Do you think the majority of people in the world are good? Maybe they think they're good, but once you get to know how many people are willing to step on others to get ahead in life, you realize how painfully pathetic most people's characters are.

I appear to be an optimist. Inside I'm always consider all scenarios, even the worst ones, i don't have a problem with that. Some people don't want to hear worst case scenarios and it's better to tell them thing they want to hear, also most optimistic options.
