She smiles but never talks

this girls always smiles at me when we make eye contact but never talks to me. I have to walk over and talk to her and when she talks she speaks quietly in short polite sentences.

i have two theories:

1. she is attracted to me but too shy to start a conversation

2. she finds me weird but doesn't want to hurt my feelings

what do you honestly think?

Bit of a weird question, but what kind of smile is it?

Is it a warm, friendly smile? Do her eyes smile too?

The left one is the real smile, notice how the eyes are way different from the one on the right.

The thing about those short sentences is that it can mean 2 things. Either she is really shy and REALLY likes you and because of that, she is scared of talking to you because she thinks you are so awesome!

or

She answers shortly because she wants to get rid of you, but without hurting you.

Does she start conversation with you and do you get the idea she likes to talk to you?

I came across this girl that I kind of knew. I was surprised to see her and she was also very surprised to see me as neither she nor I normally go to that area during that time.

After few seconds, I said hi with a smile. She gave a smile but did not say hi. She kept looking at me. I said how are you? Again she did not reply but kept looking at me with a smile.
I said you are good right? Did not say a word and just kept looking at me with a smile.

I repeated “ you are doing well right” 2–3 times and finally she shook her head.
Why was she not responding to me but looking at me with a smile.

I think she's attracted - you've spoken to her (and you were probably the first to initiate the talking), and you have to always initiate talking whenever you see her. She'll never do it, unless you can bother to do it so often that she gets really comfortable with you.

I've approached girls I knew were attracted to me, and I always had to start talking to them when I saw them, and it was never long sentences I got from them and I always had to lead the conversation (I guess you're in the same boat?)

It's annoying.

I honestly think that she has an enormous crush on you. If a girl thinks you are weird and doesn´t want to hurt your feelings she will probably just avoid you and not smile at all. Or if she talks to you, she will say she has something to do and pretends to be in a hurry.

So, I seriously think she likes you.

Just, please, now that you "know" this, don´t act cocky or as if you are a winner. Treat her with respect, go slow and make her feel comfortable (because she is obviously a shy person).
