Why do guys point in pictures?

I notice the guy I like does it in nearly every photo I have taken with him. It confuses me and I would like to know what it means so I can understand and maybe join him in doing it or not if its bad.

Probably because it gives them something to do with their hands. Girls like to very tactile with each other in photos, which guys don't do. So if guys just had their hands by their sides, it would look awkward.

Furthermore, men prefer outside objects over internal emotions. When girls take photos, the photo is meant to show an emotional connection. Guys don't like that, so by pointing, it makes the photo about a "thing" rather than the underlying emotions.

Could you possibly describe an example on how he is pointing and in which direction? I'm guessing it's just a pose he thinks he looks cool in or something.

well he puts his t-shirt up over his nose and chin like a short of mask and points his finger to the camera

Maybe he does that because he is trying to distract from the other thing pointing.
