What does it mean when a girl does a double take, then waves and smiles?

I was running on a treadmill the other day at my gym, and this girl I know(albeit not too well) walks by and does a double take, then she smiled and waved to me. She always does this, but not always with the double take. She never initiates conversation, but she seems to go out of her way to get my attention. Is she into me, or is she just being nice?

Yes! The double take is a very good interest sign. It is usually combined with the gansta move (when she catches your eyes, smiles, and looks down) This lets you know that you have her attention...a smile lets you know she likes what she sees... and the look down is a submissive move meaning, "I'm your's baby, come and get me."

The double take occurs when just one look isn't enough. They want to take that second look to get you to notice that they are interested in you.

Don't be afraid to say hi! And if she smiles and looks in your eyes when she does this, ask her what her name is, where she's from, and ask her if she would like to hang out sometime.

You have her man, don't break her heart and let her down by not attempting to show interest and get her. She has made her move, now its your turn.

She's too shy to start talking to you, but she wants you to start noticing HER as well. Try asking her to go for coffee or tea before or after gym sessions...you will then know what's on her mind by her reaction.

You have to DO something to see if she's just being nice or something more.

The double take could potentially be just to confirm that it IS you and not some random guy, because waving and smiling at a randomer that you don't know is very different.

I think that from the information given, it could go either way. She obviously acknowledges you and makes the effort to give a hi-wave which means you're someone whom she deems attractive or whom she feels friendly enough towards to not pretend she didn't see you. That's a good sign.

A gym isn't necessarily the best place to talk or hang out if you don't know the other very well, so that's potentially why she doesn't initiate conversation.

Purely based on the information provided, I'd say that she's interested in you on some level. The degree or seriousness of any potential feelings, I cannot say.

you should definitely go up to her and say hi. she obviously likes you. romantically? friendly? not sure. that's why you should talk to her and gage what her interest is. you either get a date or a new friend. win-win if you ask me
