Can you tell when someone's been crying?

So, not my proudest moment, but I cried a lot last night, woke up with puffy eyes. I didn't have to see anyone until 1pm and after make-up but I felt like my eyes gave it away. Someone I saw at 4pm straight away asked what was going on with my eyes that they were a crazy bright green. I just Skyped my parents and my mother wanted to know if I had bags under my eyes. The things people have said have never indicated a sign of crying. So can you tell if someone has been crying the night before? Anyone else's eyes change color when they cry?

If they've been crying really hard, it'll show on their face. They'll have puffy eyes and maybe even a red or chapped nose. Sometimes the skin around their eyes is pink or red as well, from rubbing it a lot.

Sometimes my eyes do change colors during extreme emotional moments. I have blue-green hazel eyes, so they alternate between looking more blue (dominant) and looking more green.

It sounds like you must have been crying really hard, that's the only time that would happen to me. I hope you feel better

Sometimes, usually because they'll be a lot more quiet and seem a bit awkward with maybe red and watery looking eyes. Wouldn't say it'd last the whole night though.
