What does this Text mean?

So much can go wrong in texting that you should use texting with caution or not at all. I see so many questions about how to translate what someone else texts that the general subject needs addressed in society and especially when emotions are involved in relationships.

It seems unrealistic to say...stop texting, but that really is the answer. If you insist on texting and are unclear or confused about something, then avoid the emotional reaction (anger, disgust, etc) and laugh about how lame texting really is (not the other person or the message). Then talk to the person to clarify what they just said. Do not ask questions to other people to translate texts because too much information is lost in context that it just creates further confusion.

Example:
Jim is having lunch with his buddy Chris and they are having a witty and upbeat conversation. Jim makes a sharply funny and intreaguing comment about how he wooed his fiance and laughs. Chris leans forward and says "Yoooouuuu Bastard!", but he says it in a funny way that means you are really keen, smart, and funny all at the same time...brilliant! I wish I had thought of that, you are so lucky!

A woman sitting nearby who knows Sally, Jim's fiance, overhears the conversation, she got the humor of it and context because she sees the whole scene and they are having a good time. She whips out her phone and she texts Sally. "Chris just called your fiance a Bastard"!

Do you see what can go wrong with this text communication in so many ways?
What does "Bastard" mean to Sally? Depending upon her mood, Sally may be angry at Chris and think he is out of the wedding, and that trashes her wedding plans which are in flight...stress! She may now have a lowered impression of her fiance Jim. It may have just ruined her day as she doesn't know what to make of this but it feels bad...what did Jim do? Does Jim want to end the wedding...is he plotting to breakup!, oh no is there another woman!? All kinds of emotions kick up and swirl as her energy is drained! She of course texts back, WHAT??? More texts ensue...
...

So much information has been lost and mis-translated in the communication that it is actually "evil". Devoid of context and feeling and emotion.

It is 10 times worse if Sallys friend texted this while driving home, risking her life and the lives of others!

STOP TEXTING! Go on a texting fast! If you do text, then it is your responsibility to responsibly use texts and accept they are easily mis intended and mis translated. In other words, if there is any confusion or lack of clarity, avoid reacting, attempting to deeply diagnose the meaning, and contact the person and clarify what they meant.
