Should my girlfriend and I give each other a free pass for the night? Bad idea?

My girlfriend and I have been together for 6 years, since we were 17. We were both virgins when we first met. We both love each other and want to spend the rest of our lives together. But we both think about being with other people, and we don't want to have any regrets. Could I only have sex with her for the rest of my life? Absolutely. But although we have a great sex life, being with a different woman would be a completely different experience.

We are thinking about having one night where we sleep with someone else. We're not going to meet the other persons date, so that there's no jealousy or anything. I don't love the idea of her being with another guy, but I trust her completely and I don't want her to have any regrets either. We haven't actually said that we would do it 100%, but we're talking about it.

But do you think this is a bad idea?

That's a terrible idea. Cheating is still cheating, even if the other knows about it. You can say you'd be fine with it, but you won't be. It'll cause conflict. It'll give reason to compare each other to the new lover. And that is not fun. What this tells me is that y'all are obviously not positive you guys are meant to be. If you both have the desire to sleep with someone else, then I don't think you're actually completely happy together. When you're meant to be, there's no one else. Options don't matter or even exists. Being together 6 years is a long time to date. But it may just be that y'all have been together a long time, because it definitely doesn't mean that y'all are soulmates. Looking to sleep with someone else tells me that y'all are both possibly bored and looking to see if there's more you're missing. And one or both of you may already know that you're missing out on something, but you're so comfortable in your 6-year bubble, that you're afraid to pop it. Sleep with someone else and that bubble will definitely be popped. Although honestly, I think you should pop it anyway.

First off, there's a risk of pregnancy. (you getting someone pregnant, her getting pregnant with someone else)
Then there's the risk of STD's and oh yea... it will... let me repeat that WILL destroy your relationship. If you can sleep with someone else once, you can do it again.

Sleeping with someone else is a bad idea. Now she'll have someone to compare you to and your desire to be with someone else again will probably come again. It's not like suddenly your desire will go away just cause you've had sex with one other person.

I could not live with the fact that my girl got fucked by another guy and I let it happen. It would buy the ever-living-shit out of me.

Sex is something of passion, and in my opinion if I like the girl then sex is gonna mean a lot to me.

That's not to say that I wouldn't be able to have one night stands. But I would have to honestly have no not like the girl romantically at all for it to mean nothing to me.

Dumb idea she's a chick and can easily be railled by a football team in a night if she chooses you being a man can't. If you give her a night it would be an equal exchange for her to give you a few months or even a year

I can't really put it into words but to me it's something I would never do with my wife. Call me clingy or whatever I do not care but she is mine and I am hers and no one else will ever enter into our love life. I feel like that is something special between us and if we go off having sexual relationships with other people it will make it lose what makes it so special to us. I voted not sure because it completely depends on the two of you. Everyone is different and some people can handle that. I'm the type of person who couldn't handle it. That being said, there are people known to do this and are perfectly fine with it. Sometimes they enjoy it and become what is known as "swingers". Personally, though, if either of you think you may get even a little bit jealous I wouldn't do it.

People do this often. Its called swinging;) You will never know until you try but word of caution, she will get a guy easy, you may not get a girl so easy. Its why swingers try find couples who think the same, because a guy and girl are both there.
