Is it bad that he puts his phone face down?

Is he hiding something? He has done this from the beginning. His phone habits are: has many uses for it, uses it but can leave it home when we go out and he doesn't take it with him to the bathroom usually, but that doesn't mean he never uses it or is hiding something, does it? I made mention of his phone being face down and he got really upset and annoyed and I just played it off like it being about his screen protector.

My boyfriend did almost the same thing when we started dating. And it made me feel the same as you. After 2 years, I realize it was not what he was doing but what I imagined he could be doing. And that isn't fair. I had insecurities from a previous relationship and I let them seep into my current one. Expecting the same and it was the complete opposite. He still uses his phone all the time but I know I have nothing to worry about. Maybe if you told him why it gets to you it would help you both. That is what I did and it did help to a point. I also read an article that said no matter what you think is going on and whether you can prove it or not, there is nothing you can do to stop it. Sounds harsh but it is the truth and constantly wondering will only plant a seed that grows into resentment.

A lot of people like to place their phones face down, especially if they would prefer to keep their attention on what they are currently doing / who they are currently with, that way when they get a notification they can't immediately see who it is from and can more easily ignore it. Some phones also automatically mute notifications if they are placed face down.

If anything, it sounds like he's just being considerate. I can see why he would get upset and annoyed by you mentioning it, especially if it was done in an accusatory tone.

I put my phone, face down quiet a bit and it literally means nothing.
Unless I notice someone tries to keep reading text messages which is annoying, I just put my phone away.

Well, a man who hides something has something to hide. Dispel yourself of the myth that anyone in a relationship deserves privacy. They DO NOT. There is a good website out there called marriagebuilders. com check it out. Look up total honesty.

I don't think it means anything really. some phones have a function where if you put it facedown on the screen then it will mute it.
