Why do American girls find French "sexy"?

Question

My brother and I moved to the states last fall for school. we're originally from Bordeaux, France. Both of us have noticed that when were getting "intimate" with a girl some of them want us to speak to them in french. I don't really understand why. Its not like they know what we're saying. I even told one girl that her sister was better looking then her and all she said was "OMG that was so hot". lol.

Ive only noticed this with American girls. why do they find it sexy?

haha,..that't cool,..my cousin lives in bordeux, lovely plave really...I do think that any accent sounds nice,..and kinda asexy,...but I don't really think much of and instead just notice it and that's kinda it.. I guess it is becuse I speak another language aswell and know how speaking a different language does not really change anything,...there is french jerk guys,..there are french nice guys,...they are just people to me and I treat them accordingly,...I also hate it whene people tell me to say something in a different language, first I don't know what to say, and it does not mean anyhting to me if I speak arabic or korean or anything, sounds the same to me...I tdoes not bug me that much though,...i gues it is not a bad thing that they find it sexy, haha,...Haha,..j'ai pris un peu de français quand j'étais jeune et vivant avec mon cousin,...je déteste quand les gens agir de manière "mezmorised" par une autre langue ou la culture,..qu'il s'est un peu ennuyeux,..bonne chance avec les dames.

I think people just like foreign accents in general, but French specifically is known as the language of love.

I personally like French because I've been studying it since I was 14, and I'm pretty good at languages, so I always did well in French. I like people talking to me in French, because I like trying to understand what they're saying, and I like trying to respond. I'm just fascinated with languages, and there are several that I wish I could speak.

Most girls, however, probably just like it because it's something different. They like the accent, and they like that you're foreign.

If some random guy walked up to me and said some French word, no matter what he said or how he looks I'd think it's sexy. lmfao.

-French men have something some american men don't which is fashion sense.

-When french men talk they speak with eye contact. That shows confidence.

-French men can cook, something most men in america can't do. lol

Well I am french and I was reading really by mystake this webpage while looking for a movie and it make me laugh. Well mostly the guy who say we don't use toilet paper :P yeah that's right we use our hands in france and we put cheese under our arms cause we don't like to clean :P

Well I wanted add something, cause I was myself with an american girl for a moment and now I just CANT go with a french girl ! american girls are way more sexy and romantic . Finally its not a bad thing, american guys can go with french girls, and us french we take american women XD

maybe a little + : I was kind of shocked as most american guys I meet like to watch a p*rn with there girlfriend for me its just kind of crazy :/

++ : for my side I like the american accent male or female , and I love the language as I try to do my best to speak it correctly ^^

I experience the same thing, girls just like that it's different - especially American women who IMO live in a society more concerned with domestic than foreign. So your just exotic and interesting.

Don't be ashamed or afraid to play that card. It's your history and a part of who you are. My suggestion tho- never tell women. If they fall for you before they know you can speak French they'll go nuts for you when they find out one day.

We don't get to hear a French accent all the time in the States.  Some accents are very sexy and alluring.  In addition, the French language has long been revered as the language of 'love.'  It's a compliment so view it as a positive thing, because you and your brother won't have any problems attracting females.

Well to start off American English is really boring and devoid of all emotion. When someone can talk in another language esp. a romance language it is interesting to listen too. It is "exotic."  Other languages carry a different connotation and contains emotion. Plus it just sounds really cool. =)  I love listening to french, because I'm learning to speak it. I also love when my boyfriend talks to me in spanish.

American women find accents hot. Its because its foreign and exotic. I dated a guy who was from Hungary and I loved it when he spoke in his native language. Although, his accent when he spoke English was super hot. And a good friend of mine is from England. He isn't good looking but once he starts talking women flock to him. Just something about accents.

I speak some French, and I've noticed everything sounds better in French. It sounds fancy, alluring, and sexy. You know there is much emphasis on pronunciation and I heard the French take much pride in their language as they should. You may not notice, but the most negative words in English sound lovely in French, so you may be cursing someone out ( and without the tone of your voice which would give you away) to an American it most likely will sound like a compliment.

I'm English and I find it sexy. I don't know why! My old boss was French, and although I didn't really fancy him (until I quit-haha) his accent kind of made me just want to jump his bones in the stock room. Oh my God, that would have been so hot. Come to London ;)

I personally love accents, most anyway.  However, I cannot stand not being able to understand what is being said.  It could be good, it could be bad, I have no idea, and it drives me crazy.  I hate it.  So, if a guy started talking to me in French, I probably would find it more annoying than hot.  If he started talking in an accent, that is a different story.

France has a reputation as a romantic place, and the language sounds romantic to an English speaking person because the sounds are smoother and softer than the sounds of English..especially US English with its Germanic influence in pronunciation.

Probably stereotypes. Americans seem to cling to stereotypes. In movies featuring anyone French they usually tend to believe that anyone from the country is automatically a master at love. Also, French is referred to as the language of love, and I guess they just like the way it sounds, because it's foreign. When something is foreign people are usually either scared of it or curious in an over-the-top sort of way.

theres something about foreigners... especially ones with awesome accents. french accents fall under the sexy catagory, I don't really know why. but trust me, you aren't the first one to notice it
