I'm asking this since my sister constantly complains about her not having a man at 27 years old and has been single for 9 years. When other people INCLUDING others have told her that her personality needs some work. Because she gets really explosively mad over the most minute things...

So for the question, would you be able to date someone that has a very short fuse? Why or why not?

It's not her personality. It's her character. If she can't learn to control her temper, nobody would want to deal with that. Either she stops complaining and get some anger management classes, or still blow a fuse and be single for the rest of her lives. She needs to stop being bitter and accept the fact that her behavior is uncomely and unacceptable. I can get highly upset too, but I still have to be responsible like everybody else. Having a temper is not attractive. For most people, it shows their abusive. And who would want to be in a potentially abusive relationship with a person like that?

I don't know if I could, if it was really extreme. But it's important to remember that everyone has flaws. Telling someone that their personality "needs work" is not the most constructive way to address the situation. How do you address fixing your entire personality? That would be an overwhelming task even for the most self aware person. Have you talked to her about the specific habit of having a short fuse? Encouraging her to be more patient and work on her ability to stay calm when problems arise is much more constructive advice than "fix your personality".

I'm viewed as a positive and pretty upbeat person, so if I were to be in a relationship with someone so short fused (taking into mind what type of fuse I'm dealing eith after reading your previous post) I feel I'd become a mentally and physically worn out person. I deal with enough stress during work, I don't really care to be around someone who is just as mentally/emotionally draining that I become physically drained as well.

I have the reputation of not having a fuse at all. I can explode in less than nano seconds. Yet i'm in a very happy relationship with a woman who won't put up with my shit and has no problem in letting me know when i'm being stupid. Her love and understand has done more to curb my explosive tendencies that anything else.
It all depends on meeting the right person who thinks you're worthwhile and can handle you.

It really depends. I personally have a short yet INCONSEQUENTIAL fuse. What that means is I may get fired up quickly over something but I'll never do anything about it more than yelling and general cantankerousness. If she does irrational things while triggered that's my red flag.

No, I'm really calm and it takes a lot for me to get pissed, so when people are like that I just feel like putting tape over their mouth and earplugs in my ears. Also, they'd likely get more pissed by me not taking them seriously, so that wouldn't work out.

Probably not but mostly because my dad can be that way. Don't get me wrong he's a great dad and good guy and would do anything for anyone, however he's easily agitated. He could be in a great mood but if the simplest thing occurs, then a switch flips and the whole day is ruin. So, no because I know how hard it can be to deal with that.

Lol nope. If there's a problem, I'd rather we try to resolve it than have him pop off and lash out at me. I don't want to be constantly fighting with or consoling my boyfriend. He'd need to act his age or take some time to gain some self control before he can enter a healthy relationship. I can't deal with people who would rather fight and tear other's down than try to improve their life.

it'll be stressful as hell I couldn't do it. my father has a short fuse and makes small issues into the biggest problem its awful. From my experience people like that will never take responsibility for their actions that really pisses me off not to mention they are constantly looking for a fight.

No. I avoid people who have a short fuse, coz they have no self- control. People like that are unpredictable , and I don't trust them. The least thing sets them off. I couldn't be happy with someone like that.

I have a short fuse but I can calm myself down to the point where i won't break anything. Tho the only reason I can is because i've been angry way to many times to really care anymore honestly

You can't really work on your personality, she's just gonna have to either be helped into controlling it easier or teach herself.

Nope. I have a pretty short fuse myself, but at the same time I'm rational and give ample warning before I get to that point, but it's hard to be around someone like that. A relationship takes patience, since you're dealing with another person.

NOOO #1 turn off. I grew up with family members (adults) with short tempers and that is the #1 thing I will not tolerate in a partner.  I will not date an adult who acts like a child.

No. I am very sarcastic and make jokes all the time, and people with a short fuse suck cause they take everything too seriously, the littlest joke triggers them, so we'd be in fights all the time.

Not ideal, but possibly... With these people, there are always a few trigger factors. For example, they may not like to be called a certain nickname. Whatever these triggers are, I'd do my best to avoid them.
